Established in 2005, LoveWorks Academy is a K-8 public charter school focused on providing access to arts education to all students. Our school is community driven by the love of arts, life-long personalized academic empowerment, and overall community uplift. Our students are more than pupils! We identify the roots of their hopes, dreams, and struggles to make a meaningful connection with their heart. At LoveWorks Academy, we make no excuses and maintain the highest standards with a clear focus on constant progression. We currently serve roughly 150 students from the Twin Cities and surrounding areas.

Position Summary:

To plan, organize and implement an appropriate instructional program in an elementary or secondary learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their academic potential. Work is performed under the supervision of the School Principal.

Position Purpose: Under general supervision, serves as a classroom teacher; engages and supports all students in learning in accordance with the State academic content standards; maintains and creates an effective environment for students learning; organizes subject matter for student learning; plans instruction and designs learning experiences for all students; assesses student learning; and develops as a professional educator.

Organizational Relationships: This position reports directly to the School Principal and will interact on a regular basis with other administrators, teachers and external customers. This position works cooperatively with other school staff.

Principal Accountabilities/Essential Functions:

• Provides learning experiences and teaches pre-reading, reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, health, art, physical education, music, leadership and other general elements of the course of study as specified in State law and in administrative regulations and procedures of the District in accordance with the State content standards.
• Plan, prepare and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
• Develops schemes of work, lesson plans and tests that are in accordance with established procedures.
• Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
• Use relevant technology to support and differentiate instruction.
• Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
• Maintain discipline in accordance with the rules and disciplinary systems of the school.
• Provide appropriate feedback on work.
• Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students and use information to adjust teaching strategies.
• Develops and uses instructional materials suitable for verbal and/or visual instruction of students with a wide range of mental, physical and emotional maturity.
• Provides individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs and motivate students.
• Establishes and maintains standards of classroom management required to achieve effective participation in all activities.
• Evaluates academic and social growth of students and keeps appropriate records.
• Prepares and provides progress reports; report cards; and other formal and informal assessment data to parents.
• Maintains electronic assessment data for access by families as needed to strengthen communication between the home and the school.
• Ensures that continuous formative and summative assessments are conducted to gauge student progress and specific teaching and learning needs
• Communicates with parents through a variety of means.
• Incorporates the use of technology in the delivery of lessons.
• Holds parent conferences to discuss the individual student's progress and interpret the school program.
• Identifies student needs and cooperates with other professional staff members in assessing and helping students solve health, attitude and learning problems.
• Creates an effective environment for learning through functional and attractive displays such as bulletin boards, interest centers, etc.
• Maintains professional competence through professional development activities provided by the School/District.
• Participates cooperatively with the appropriate administrator to develop goals to be used in the performance evaluation process in accordance with District guidelines.
• Assists in the selection and requisition of instructional materials and maintains appropriate inventory records.
• Supervises students during classroom instructional time and out-of-classroom activities.
• Participates in faculties and/or District committees and activities.
• Participates in Child Find Teams, Individualized Educational Plan meetings as required to meet the needs of the child.
• Participates in instructional preparation time and uses preparation time for the purpose of which it is designed.
• Provides instruction using various instructional strategies to meet the needs of all learners that ensure student engagement.
• Chaperones or supervises extracurricular activities and field trips as assigned.
• Cooperatively pursues alternative solutions to remediate pupil learning problems, and to enhance expanded academic, social, and emotional growth opportunities.
• Analyzes student data to accurately evaluate and support student learning.
• Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic and ability backgrounds.
• Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls and answer emails.
• Participate in appropriate professional activities.
• Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organizations as directed.
• Collaborates and articulates with administrators and teachers to ensure program needs are aligned with school and district achievement goals.
• Assume other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
• Attendance is an essential function of this position.
• Performing all other duties as assigned.

• Licenses/Certificates/Special Requirements: A valid Minnesota teaching credential authorizing instruction.
• Ability to pass a Criminal Background Check.
• Current driver's license

Education and Experience:

• Four-year Bachelor of Arts degree in Education or a related field that would qualify for MN teaching licensure.
• Student teaching, Internship, or full-time teaching experience.
