Duties and Responsibilities | As a certified Advanced Practice Nurse, provides comprehensive primary healthcare services for children and adolescents in a school-based health center. This is an as needed, hourly, float pool position. Duties include but are not limited to: *gathering and interpreting comprehensive health history and risk assessment data *provision of physical examinations *treatment and management of common acute and chronic conditions *ordering and interpretation of laboratory and diagnostic tests *prescribing vaccines & medications based on established criteria *administers vaccinations as part of the Vaccine for Children program *consultation with a collaborating physician and other members of the interprofessional team as appropriate to provide comprehensive evidence-based services *maintaining documentation within the electronic health record according to HIPAA and FERPA regulations *providing health teaching and health promotion services within the clinic and school classrooms As a certified Advanced Practice Nurse, serves as a mentor and teacher as part of the mission of the SBHC. Duties include but are not limited to: *serving as a preceptor for graduate students learning the Advanced Practice Nursing role *facilitating Loyola nursing, social work, public health, nutrition and medical student and resident clinical practica in the SBHC and community in collaboration with the Project Director, Loyola faculty and other team members *identifying needs and using evidence to suggest innovative interventions/new evidence-based programs to meet the needs of the population served *commitment to further the mission of Loyola University Chicago of excellence in teaching, healthcare and social justice Performs other duties, as assigned Special Instructions: Review of applications will begin in August 2022. Minimum Education and/or Work Experience | Master's degree in specialty field and three to five years of experience. Requires state RN and APN licenses. |
Qualifications | *Certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner or Pediatric Nurse Practitioner *Current Illinois Registered Nurse and Advanced Practice Nurse license *Master's degree in specialty field and three to five years of experience *Demonstrated interest in working with a diverse adolescent population *Must be able to diagnose and treat a variety of health issues as well as have knowledge of human behavior, adolescent growth, development and performance. *Strong communication skills, interpersonal and analytical skills are essential. *Proficiency with MS Office Suite, Internet and email applications |
