Overview

The FCC Clerk III has responsibilities that include answering telephones, scheduling, filing, maintaining FCC medical records and correspondence.

Special Criteria Details
Experience with EMRs and scheduling systems preferred. Working no more than 832 hours per year.
Responsibilities
    Answers telephone courteously, triages calls, takes messages as needed and delivers them appropriately.
  1. Assists daily in preparation of FCC medical records, which includes appropriate billing information, order sheets, return appointment forms and new patient information.
  2. Schedules patients appointments per the established protocol; schedules diagnostic tests/procedures, as requested
  3. Completes all correspondence in a timely manner to assure the efficiency of the practice, i.e., routine office appointments, referrals, disability forms, requests for information, new patient information, etc.
  4. Maintains confidentality at all times.
  5. Files documents into the medical record.
  6. Pulls medical records and refiles as necessary.
  7. Gathers and maintains accurate statistics.
  8. Assist in ordering of office supplies, maintains levels for effective running of office
  9. Schedules admission/provides appropriate information/paperwork.
  10. Prepares next day appointment calendar for physicians, nurses, pharmacist and clinical staff.
  11. Responsible for maintaining current and accurate log of off-site records and expired patients.
  12. Responsible for maintenance tasks such as daily transport of soiled utensils to SPD and mail run twice per day.
  13. Provides medical record information utilizing medical release of information policy.
  14. Collects patient information utilizing quick scheduling.
  15. Verifies all patient information with appropriate parties.
  16. Prepares patient paperwork, as requested.
  17. Collects payments for services rendered to patients, when appropriate.
  18. Activates and updates patient's registrations as requested
  19. Types patient-related letters, correspondence, upon request
  20. Distributes to all new patients: Patient Rights, Advance Directives, Cancer Center Patient Portfolio.
  21. Provides guidance/direction to Cancer Center patients with questions regarding professional/technical components of billing.
  22. Performs duties of Office Coordinator in absence or upon request.
  23. Ability to effectively and accurately type forms using MS Word.
  24. Prepares charts in Radiation and Medical Oncology for the next business day.
  25. Performs reception desk duties in a professional, friendly and time conscious manner.
  26. Assist in answering of phones.
  27. Assist in retrieving and returning of x-ray films for Radiation Oncology.
  28. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  1. High school graduate or equivalent.
  2. Good communication and organizational skills required.
  3. Experience in the use of personal computers required. Proficient in the use of MS Word Software preferred.
  4. Type 35 words per minute preferred.
  5. Excellent customer service skills.
  6. Prior clerical training preferred, preferable in health care.
  7. Oncology office experience preferred.
