Primary Responsibilities

In the role of Lead Track Inspector, we'll count on you to:

  • Provide inspection and construction supervision on railway and transit projects;

  • Maintain accurate daily diary entries and completion of contract documentation records;

  • Prepare daily inspection reports showing contractor's labor force, the location of the construction activities, and the actual work performed;

  • Reject work that does not conform to the contract requirements;

  • Report any field conditions that deviate from the construction drawings and make recommendations for corrective action;

  • Maintain daily photographic records, and videos as necessary to document contract activities;

  • Carry out track inspection and quality assurance and quality control inspection to confirm the contractor's adherence to contractual documents.

  • Complete site surveys of completed works for tracking item and material quantities for payment;

  • Complete daily inspections in accordance to client requirements and expectations;

  • Monitoring construction work to verify compliance with the contract documents and specifications;

  • Monitoring the contractor's compliance with health and safety regulations;

  • Supervise and implement quality assurance acceptance and inspection of construction works;

  • Reporting onsite activities, concerns, and non-conformances, and provide recommendations for resolution to the Construction Manager;

  • Coordinate work for interdisciplinary coordination including signals, Track, and Traction Power;

  • Coordinate with client for Transit services;

  • Perform detailed inspections, generate running and comprehensive punch-list;

  • Review construction submittals for completeness, accuracy and constructability;

  • Provide mentorship to junior staff;

  • Liaise with client representatives, as required;

  • Act as client site representative;

  • Requires working nights, weekends, and extended shifts;

  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Engineering degree or diploma is preferred but can be offset by additional experience in inspection services on rail/transit projects;
  • 10+ years experience in track inspection and construction oversight.
  • Proven analytical, communication, and negotiation skills;
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
  • Ability to organize, prioritize and schedule work;
  • Ability to analyze and solve problems;

Typical starting pay range for this position is $52,938.00 - $75,625.00 annually depending upon skills, experience, education and geographical location.
