Job Description
Position SummaryChord Energy is seeking an innovative, results oriented, and process driven Senior Production Engineer. This Engineer will be responsible for maximizing production and profitability of oil and gas properties through assessing the associated costs and estimating the production capabilities and economic value of oil and gas wells. Individual needs a strong background in EH&S associated with artificial lift and field operations. The position is based in Houston, TX and requires frequent travel to field locations. Level and salary commensurate with background and experience.Essential Job FunctionsResponsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Assess costs and estimate the production capabilities and economic value of oil and gas wells, in order to evaluate the economic viability of potential drilling sites
  • Monitor production trends, design workover and intervention programs in order to maximize oil recovery
  • Determine reservoir performance for different recovery techniques using decline curve analysis, nodal analysis, and other models
  • Review and write technical reports for engineering and management personnel
  • Research, design, and implement appropriate secondary and tertiary projects, including production forecasts and economic analysis
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance in the development of artificial lift systems, monitoring, and optimization activities
  • Mentor production engineers and field techs to optimize production activities and analysis
  • Update best practices and work with Engineering and Optimization teams to apply Continuous Process Improvement concepts
  • Provide technical leadership to evaluate new lift systems and optimization of existing program
  • Artificial lift selection, design, and troubleshooting: ESP's, Gas Lift, Jet Pumps, and rod lift systems
  • Support Supply Chain department in procurement activities including regular vendor meetings, request for procurement (RFP) and performance feedback
  • Support field staff and engineers as they troubleshoot challenging wells
  • Review and update artificial lift installation procedures and update for new equipment or as required by operations
  • Provide engineering support as needed for bolt on acquisitions or new basin development opportunities
  • Ability to work in fast paced agile environment

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering
  • 5 years of experience in petroleum engineering
  • Experience in unconventional assets
  • Willing to travel
  • Excellent Communication skills & working in team environment
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and to use standard office equipment, including a computer, stamina to maintain attention to detail despite interruptions, strength to lift and carry files weighing up to 10 pounds; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen, and hearing and speech to communicate in person and over the telephone

  • Bachelor's degree in Petroleum Engineering
  • 7 years of petroleum engineering experience
  • Experience in Williston Basin
  • Proven ability to mentor other engineers
  • Field production operations experience
  • Working knowledge of government regulations and permitting requirements
