The Opportunity:

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) is seeking to filladjunct professor positions for ERAU'sdual enrollment Aerospace Career Academy programs in various high school locations throughout the state of Florida. Adjunct faculty are needed in the following disciplines:

  • Private Pilot Ground School
  • Aviation Maintenance Science courses.
  • Unmanned Aircraft Systems
  • Computer Programming
  • Aerospace Engineering
  • Aviation Business & Transportation Principles
  • Aviation History
  • Meteorology
  • Aviation Safety and Human Factors

Duties include:

Provide classroom instruction per ERAU academic procedures. Prepare course materials, deliver instruction, conduct field trips, maintain academic records, ensure course learning objectives are met, and assist in recruiting, grant writing, and fundraising efforts.

Position is in support of ERAU's Aerospace Career Academy program, which provides a collegiate model of aviation and aerospace education to select public high schools. Responsible for ensuring accomplishment of appropriate ERAU and public school district administrative requirements for all courses. Liaise with appropriate ERAU course monitors to ensure compliance with learning objectives published in current master course outlines and federal aviation regulations. Ensure all students are registered for their courses with ERAU Records and Registration. Ensure all student grades for all courses are reported to ERAU and appropriate high school. Help interested students learn more about ERAU and assist them with completing ERAU application packages. Coordinate with local aviation and aerospace organizations and businesses for field trips, free flights, internships, scholarships, and grants. Assist with recruitment of high school student candidates by conducting public relations events, parent meetings, and supporting high school recruiting and registration events. Establish and support elementary and middle school aerospace feeder programs.

Qualifications

Preferred candidate will have a Master's degreein Aeronautical Science, Aviation Business, Aerospace Engineering, or Computer Programming; Or a Master's degree out of field, with 18 graduate hours in subject area; Or a Master's degree out of field, with documented professional experience, military service and/orFederal Aviation Administration (FAA) licensing.

In addition to the above requirements, credentialing in the following subject areas require additional certification:

  • AS 121 (Private Pilot Operations) - Instructor must holdan Advanced Ground Instructor (AGI)certification, Basic Ground Instructor (BGI) or a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI)
