HDR is currently looking for a temporary Construction Inspector in North Dakota for the 2023 construction season.

Primary Responsibilities

In this role, we'll count on you to:

  • Conduct and document observations of construction as it progresses for civil projects related to heavy civil infrastructure, such as roads and bridges
  • Monitor, record and inspect progress on construction projects and track and calculate quantities for work completed
  • Collaborate with other field representatives and/or Project Managers
  • Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications, quantify quantities with documented calculations and identify discrepancies or conflicts within the documents.
  • Coordinate field materials sampling and testing, including in-place soil compaction testing, aggregate gradation testing, concrete slump and air testing, and casting concrete test cylinders *Provide guidance to less-experienced field staff as needed
  • Perform other duties as needed

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Strong written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • This position typically requires successfully passing drug-screening procedures prior to being hired thereafter subject to random and cause drug and alcohol testing
  • An attitude and commitment to being an active participant of our employee-owned culture is a must

Preferred Qualifications

  • Technical school or Associate degree
  • Some demonstrated experience in construction inspection
  • Ability to interpret construction schedules
