Job Description

Albemarle Corporation is currently seeking a Process Design Lead to lead all process design activities for a major capital program within the Bromine GBU.

The position can be based at our Process Development Center in Baton Rouge, LA; at our plant in Magnolia, AR or at our offices in Charlotte, NC or Houston, TX. The position will report directly to the Process Technology Director for the program with a dotted line to the GBU Process Design Director.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Serve as the process design leader for ISBL and OSBL scopes of a major capital program from Select stage through commissioning and startup.

  • Assure that all process design activities including simulation; equipment selection and sizing are performed in a timely manner and with accuracy.

  • Lead and develop other process design engineers working on the program.

  • Oversee and provide quality assurance for process design activities occurring at the office of the engineering contractor.

  • Collaborate closely with other project team members including the process design team; process technology licensors; discipline engineers; construction; commissioning and startup manager.

Required Education and Experience:

  • B.S degree or higher in Chemical Engineering with 10+ years of experience.

  • Proven track record of performing process design work on large projects within the chemicals or closely related space.

  • Ability to model chemical processes in Aspen.

  • Experience managing a process design team from FEED through detailed engineering.

  • Strong grasp of chemical engineering fundamentals and ability to bring a fundamental approach to process design.

  • Experience acting as owner's representative for process design within an engineering house.

  • Ability to work independently with limited technical oversight.

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in process development; plant operations; or process improvement in addition to process design.

  • Experience in commissioning and startup.
