We have an opportunity at our corporate offices in Chicago for a Health Equity Senior Data Analyst on our Health Equity team. This position can be hybrid (working from both office and home), with a schedule to be determined by business needs.

As a Health Equity Senior Data Analyst you will pursue equity-focused data analysis supporting the Center for Health Equity's priorities. Extend the Center for Health Equity's capabilities at the intersection of health services research, health care systems, public health, social epidemiology, and critical race theory. Support the implementation of research projects rooted in the AMA's Strategic Plan to Embed Racial Justice and Advance Health Equity.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Data Collection and Analysis

  • Contribute to analyses of the structural and social determinants of health with a focus on health care inequities; advise colleagues on selection of statistical methods and interpretation of findings
  • Collaborate AMA-wide to provide technical and statistical guidance in implementing an equity lens for Enterprise-wide projects involving public and private databases
  • Develop and publish relevant manuscripts, fact sheets, reports; contribute data-related content for presentations and trainings

Health Equity Research Roadmap

  • Develop a health equity research agenda that examines inequities in health care access, utilization, and outcomes through analysis of a wide range of data sources and integrates with and builds upon the CHE's priorities
  • Identify and implement opportunities to collaborate AMA-wide to embed a health equity perspective in data projects impacting health policy, health outcomes, and the practice of medicine

Enhance Data Use Capacity

  • Develop relationships with internal groups to embed health equity across the AMA focusing on data use, analysis, and reporting; train colleagues on how to identify and integrate health equity data in analysis
  • Collaborate and share knowledge on "data for equity" to build and strengthen organizational capacity of other data, research, and evaluation staff across the enterprise

REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Graduate degree or equivalent experience required; Master's degree or PhD with specialization in health services research or another related field preferred.
  2. Minimum of 7 years' experience in data analytics, with knowledge of healthcare and/or public health information; minimum of 3 years' experience in health equity data, research and/or evaluation.
  3. Highly proficient with social and structural analysis to advance health equity with expertise in race (racism), gender identity, and sexual orientation data collection and analysis.
  4. Demonstrated ability to analyze primary and secondary data from large public and private sources, including cleaning and formatting data, with multivariate statistical techniques including logistic and OLS regression, similar experience with qualitative data analysis highly preferred.
  5. Strong statistical and conceptual analysis skills; mastery of analytical tools, such as Stata/SPSS/SAS/R and data visualization tools such as ArcGIS/Tableau/D3.
  6. Experience establishing and maintaining collaborations with external stakeholders
  7. Polished communication skills, both verbal and written; skilled at presenting in a clear, concise, convincing manner.
  8. Effective time management and organizational skills, including ability to accurately gauge project duration, deliver on deadlines, and manage a workload with possible conflicting priorities.
