Your Opportunity

The Capital Project Manager is responsible for the monitoring and analysis of company capital spending, including assets, operational equipment & machinery, and more. This role will partner with several company functions to provide essential insights as to the planning, budgeting, and success of capital projects. This role will also drive internal audits on capital spend and ensure compliance throughout the entire capital expense process.

Core Responsibilities
    Oversight for capital projects to ensure capital spending plans are successful and, as applicable, meeting contractual deadlines, budgets, and quality standards.
  • Provide insight and recommendations on project prioritization.
  • Compile and publish audits on capital projects
  • Ensure fixed assets comply with company policies
  • Provide reporting and analysis on capital spending vs budgets
  • Develops and implements strategic, long, and short-term plans.
  • Investigates project variances, submits variance reports to key stakeholders and communicates key insights to manager.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university in Finance, Accounting, Business Management or related field and 5+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in a position of leadership to include team development and management, required.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of finance, capital, and/or accounting experience, required.
  • Familiarity with the SAP ERP or JD Edwards system at GL level is a significant plus.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with peers and executive leadership.
  • Must possess an aptitude for translating complex, technical subjects into clear, business-oriented communications.
  • Strong analyst skills that align with the Smithfield culture. Specific skills include facilitating change, driving operational excellence, and striving for continuous improvement.
  • Ability to work well with others in a fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships.
  • Excellent administration skills.
  • Strong excel and data analytics skills.
  • Understands re-engineering processes and large-scale system changes.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Ability to grasp organization's short- and long-term priorities and develop systems, processes, and policies to support the achievement in a cost-effective manner.
  • Minimum travel, as needed.
