Your Opportunity

Job Duties: Follow the safety requirements of the Injury Prevention System (IPS). Maintain site bio-security. Abide by all company policies, procedures and guidelines as directed by farm leadership. Lead their employees in the completion of each day's tasks. Work as a team player by accomplishing daily department work requirements and farm goals. Ensure the day-to-day activities and processes are scheduled/performed according to standard procedures/policies in company technical manuals and relevant company documentation. Train and monitor subordinate performance and provides appropriate coaching. Perform necropsy to collect tissue samples for diagnosis. Maintain all equipment and the correct environment in all section barns at all times. Manage, monitor and control feed inventory at all times to satisfy animal requirements and to minimize waste. Manage day-to-day inventory procedures for the section and practices standard inventory control initiatives. Maintain accurate production information and update all department records as required. Treat sick animals with a variety of pharmaceuticals by injection, oral application, and/or other methods as required. Follow the Standard Operating Procedures, Production Manuals, or Appropriate Training Guides as required. Follow the Company's animal welfare policies and procedures including: providing a physical environment that meets the animal's needs, providing access to adequate water and high quality feed, providing humane treatment of the animals, providing identification and appropriate treatment of animals in need of health care and following the guidelines for euthanasia to include proper disposal of animals. Responsible for being in compliance with all environmental laws and procedures. Report all environmental issues immediately to supervisor. Read and understand the company's emergency notification process and how it applies to their specific worksite. Understand safety requirements of the job and ensure employee's compliance with the safety requirements. Perform other duties as assigned necessary for the care of in the swine and/or the swine facility.

Requirements: Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Animal Science, Agriculture, Agronomy or a related field and one (1) year of industrial meat processing and animal production management training.

  • 4-year college degree in Animal Science or related Agricultural field of study, or equivalent supervisory experience and/or previous swine experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be able to work an average 48 hour week, which can vary frequently.
  • Weekend, evening, and holiday work required as needed.
  • Must shower in and out of farm facilities daily
  • Ability to lead others
  • Ability and willingness to relocate to complete training and assume first managerial assignment
  • Must be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft software
  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
  • Must be supportive of the mission of raising swine for human consumption of high quality pork products.
  • Must be able to tolerate and willing to learn and perform the following tasks: euthanasia, castration, vaccinations, piglet processing, ear tagging for identification, taking blood samples and other procedures normal to animal husbandry.
  • Must be able to operate a high pressure washing system.
Supervisory Responsibilities

When basic technical certification is complete, will provide leadership and guidance to personnel within a department with Manager oversight
