Overview

Adaptive Phage Therapeutics (APT) is a clinical-stage biotech advancing therapies to treat multi-drug resistant infections. We are on a mission to address today's - and tomorrow's - toughest infections. We are looking for intelligent and motivated people to help us reach those goals.

The Medical Laboratory Technician will perform diagnostic testing to aid clinicians in infectious disease diagnosis and treatment. This position is a perfect fusion of research and diagnostic medical Microbiology. The MLT will conduct and report clinical testing including phage susceptibility testing (PST), antibiotic susceptibility, antibiotic-phage interaction, and phage-phage interaction in planktonic and biofilm-associated bacterial species. The MLT may also perform clinical sample processing, phage and bacterial quantification, bacteriophage plaque assays, neutralizing antibody testing, genomic extractions, and PCR. This testing will directly support APT's expanded access programs and APT's sponsored Clinical Trials (Phase 1-3). Work will be performed under the guidance of a certified Medical Laboratory Scientist using GLP/GCLP guidelines in the APT Clinical Testing Laboratory (CTL).

  • Performs human and microbial sample management activities, e.g., receipt, log-in, storage, and retrieval for samples submitted to the Clinical Testing Laboratory (CTL)
  • Performs analytical testing on biological samples including microbial growth and identification, phage susceptibility testing, minimum inhibitory concentration antimicrobial testing, serial dilutions, phage titer testing, and other biological assays as assigned
  • Generate and verify reports of findings
  • Participates in Quality Assurance activities such as sample and report tracking, deviation reporting, test method qualification/validation
  • Maintains, monitors, and documents CTL instrumentation and laboratory safet
  • Other tasks and projects as assigned
  • All work will be performed under the supervision/guidance of a Certified Medical Laboratory Scientist
  • Other duties as needed

Qualifications
  • Current Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) certification preferred
  • Associates degree/equivalent in life sciences or related field AND
  • Recent completion of an accredited MLT program or
  • Successful completion of a U.S. military medical laboratory training course or
  • 1+ years of recent, full time clinical experience in a CMS CLIA certified/JCI accredited/ISO 15189 accredited Microbiology laboratory
  • 3+ years of experience in pharmaceutical or biotechnology clinical laboratory
  • Experience with bacteriophage/viral plaque assays preferred
  • Clinical Microbiology and aseptic technique under BSL-2 conditions
  • Ability to follow complex instructions
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Research and analysis skills

  • Ability to follow biohazard and safety guidelines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Comfortable working in teams and independently under the guidance of lead technologists
  • Fluency with Microsoft software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
