STV currently has an opening in our Owings Mills and Baltimore City, MD office for a Track (Rail) Engineer in our Transit Group. This person will primarily perform design and quality control for transit projects including but not limited to light rail, commuter rail, and maintenance facility/yard design projects for public agencies.
The candidate will be responsible for:
- Horizontal/vertical track geometry design including special trackwork
- Specification writing
- Interdisciplinary coordination, assisting sub-consultants
- Interacting with clients, engineers in other technical disciplines, and marketing teams
- Quality Control and Quality Assurance
- May mentor and train younger staff
Required Skills & Required Experience:
- BS/MS degree in Civil Engineering
- PE license preferred in Maryland
- 8+ years of experience in rail/track design
- Ability to support management and provide technical expertise in the following areas:
- Track design for passenger systems
- Vertical and horizontal alignments
- Special trackwork design and details
- Basic understanding of train operations, consist types/uses, and maintenance requirements
- Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
