About the Opportunity

The Senior Credit Manager is responsible for managing the credit department which includes developing and improving operational goals of the department, reviewing and recommending credit limits, managing customer relationships, identifying process and technological enhancements to the systems underlying credit and accounts receivable, hiring, training, motivating, performance managing and development of staff. This position supervises credit representatives, analysts, supervisor(s), and cash application specialists who are responsible for conducting credit investigations, collecting on delinquent accounts, and applying cash.


In this role, the successful candidate will:

  • Establishes credit limits for customer accounts according to company guidelines and reviews exceptions as necessary.
  • Reviews collection reports to ascertain status of collection and balances outstanding and evaluate effectiveness of current collection policies and procedures.
  • Oversees the department's day-to-day operations and provides feedback to the Credit Supervisor(s).
  • Manages employee activities including evaluation and overall performance management, training and development, initiating or suggesting plans to motivate workers to achieve goals, and effective communication with associates.
  • Effectively leads credit team meetings by utilizing team member participation.
  • Delegates tasks and manages progress to ensure successful completion of department objectives
  • Creates and reinforces a culture of teamwork and actively resolves conflicts within the team and between credit and other teams.
  • Manages proactively by holding regular 1on1s and team meetings to ensure open lines of communication and professional development for direct reports.
  • Leads people through coaching, utilizing the employee performance tools, hiring and onboarding.
  • Designs and drives continuous improvement projects
  • Drives the design, communication, testing and execution of system, process, policy and procedure changes.
  • Audits delinquent accounts considered uncollectable; ensures maximum efforts have been taken before assigning bad credit status to an account.
  • Confirms that customer credit information is captured accurately in the company's ERP based on departmental procedures.
  • Reviews and approves adjustments to accounts.
  • Monitors and reports the percentages of aged accounts.
  • Reviews the allowance for doubtful accounts and bad debt expense as part of financial the close process.
  • Effectively motivates and develops the credit and collections team.
  • Measures department performance with appropriate metrics, evaluates measurement metrics for effectiveness, and recommends adjustments.
  • Manages relationships with collection and credit reporting agencies.
  • Develops and maintains strong relationships with the sales team.
  • Other duties as assigned.


What does it take to be a qualified candidate?

  • Bachelor's degree in business related area required.
  • 8-10 years of credit-related experience including communicating and managing customer accounts, data entry, and business process improvement and reporting.
  • 5-7 years of people management experience.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of credit and collection procedures.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Proven critical thinking, decision making and negotiation skills.
  • Expert Excel user.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Strong Microsoft Office experience.
  • ERP experience (QAD EE preferred), digital analytics program experience (DOMO, Tableau).
  • Ability to learn technical concepts by reading work instructions and standard operating procedures, and completing on-the-job training.
  • Knowledge of cGMP regulations ISO 13485, 21CFR Part 820, CMDR SOR/98-282, 93/42/EEC, RDC 16 2013, MHLW MO 169 and TG(MD)R Sch3 preferred.
