Providence is calling a Medical Lab Technician, to its Clinical Laboratory Team at Providence Medford Medical Center in Medford, OR. This is a full-time, day and evening position. The schedule will consist 10 hour shifts, with shift start times as early as 4am, and end times as late as 11:30pm. $6,000 hiring bonus and relocation assistance for eligible external candidates who meet all conditions for payment - this is in addition to the fantastic benefits and compensation package offered by Providence that begin on your first day of employment.

We are seeking a Medical Technologist or Medical Lab Technician - Clinical Laboratory that will be responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of high complexity laboratory test results with minimal supervision. MT/CLS JRN personnel are capable of performing pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical duties including specimen evaluation, data analysis, and instrument maintenance and problem resolution. They often work with acute-care and outpatient caregivers, along with other Laboratory Services staff in performing their duties.

As a Medical Lab Technician you will have the following responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates competency in compliance as required by the PHS Laboratory Compliance Plan.
  • Responsible for the accurate and timely reporting of patient results in pre-analytical, analytical and post-analytical phases of specimen analysis.
  • Demonstrates participation in Quality Assessment processes, incorporates continuous quality improvement into practice.
  • Demonstrates the ability to perform Quality Control analysis and instrument troubleshooting.
  • Demonstrates effective problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work and manage time effectively and efficiently in order to meet department turn-around-time goals.
  • Ability to communicate successfully with the health care team, supporting quality improvement and improved customer service.
  • May be required to perform phlebotomy and processing of specimens in the small and rural areas.

Required qualifications for a Medical Lab Technician include:

  • Certification or Registry (MLT,CLT) from a government agency or nationally recognized professional organization (e.g.. ASCP, NCA, etc.), OR Eligible for Certification or Registry.
  • Must obtain certification within 6 months of hire. (During this period new hire will be placed at the trainee rate).
  • In Compliance with the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), criminal background check and fingerprinting may be required for this position, based on assigned duties. Involves only those positions at PPMC operating the blood irradiator machine.

Preferred qualifications for this position include:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Medical Laboratory Science from a NAACLS accredited MLS program
  • One (1) Three (3) years of Clinical laboratory experience in a moderate and high complexity laboratory
