The Opportunity

The College of Aeronautics (COA) at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University-Worldwide invites applications and nominations for the position of Chair, Department of Aeronautics, Undergraduate Studies. The College seeks a dynamic, nationally recognized leader who will partner with College leadership, faculty, and others in prioritizing, developing, and evaluating the activities related to academic programs in the area of aeronautical science, unmanned systems, safety management, pilot operations, and aviation maintenance.

The Worldwide College of Aeronautics offers graduate and undergraduate programs in aeronautics, safety, unmanned systems, space operations, sustainability, aviation maintenance, pilot operations, along with a host of engineering programs. The Worldwide campus has an enrollment of over 18,000 students, delivering courses globally online, synchronously to both homes and classrooms, and face-to-face at over 130 locations. Embry-Riddle Worldwide was again ranked #1 in 2021 for Best Online Bachelor's programs from U.S. News & World Report. This was the 5th time it had received the #1 ranking in the last 7 years.

Reporting to the Dean, the Department Chair for the Department of Aeronautics, Undergraduate Studies, will be responsible for leading full-time and adjunct faculty to support student success and develop strategic partnerships with other ERAU components, the aerospace industry, and academic and government research organizations; supporting the COA Advisory Board; identifying and facilitating joint research activities with other COA and Worldwide organizations and programs; and serving on the college's leadership team participating fully in its strategic budgeting, planning, and management processes.

This is a remote role which can be performed anywhere in the U.S. Company paid monthly travel to our Worldwide Headquarters, located in Daytona Beach, Florida, will be required.

Qualifications

This is a senior-level position in the College, requiring a doctorate in an aeronautics related field from an accredited academic institution. Professional credentials should support an appointment at the rank of Associate Professor within the COA. Selected candidate will need to relocate to the Daytona Beach area and will work at our Worldwide Headquarters.
