Statewide Roadway Design Practice Builder & Group Manager - Florida

We are looking to hire an experienced Roadway Design Practice Builder & Group Manager to work out of the Benesch Tampa office, lead the statewide roadway design practice in Florida, and take our Florida roadway design practice to the next level. Reporting to the Division Manager, a Group Manager position at Benesch is an outstanding leadership opportunity with great visibility at the state, regional, and national leadership levels, including the potential opportunity for ownership for the right candidate.

This position offers an opportunity to lead an existing group of design professionals, an existing continuing service contract with FDOT District 6, and existing contracts with other FDOT Districts and local agencies throughout Florida. Critical work areas for this position include roadway design, traffic engineering, PD&E, and roadway planning. The ideal candidate will be a licensed Professional Engineer and have significant experience in client development and pursuing, managing, and providing roadway and transportation engineering services for public agencies, including DOTs, counties, and municipalities.

The Impact You Will Have:
  • Lead, manage, and grow our Florida-based roadway engineering group.
  • Manage project teams, accountable for budget and schedule.
  • Contribute to local, regional, and corporate strategic growth initiatives, including expansion of roadway design, traffic engineering, and roadway planning throughout Florida.
  • Develop and manage relationships with existing and new clients.
  • Represent Benesch at industry and professional engagement events.
  • Identify opportunities and lead strategic project pursuits.
  • Collaborate on regional growth strategy.
What We Are Looking For:
  • BSCE or related discipline
  • Professional Engineer licensure in Florida
  • Progressive leadership experience of 15-20 years
  • Experience working with FDOT and local agencies
  • Progressive experience in project development and delivery of roadway engineering and design services, traffic engineering, and roadway planning
  • Progressive experience working directly with clients developing relationships, with proven ability to win work
  • Excellent communication, business development, project management, and client relation skills
  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills with a track record for understanding and adhering to contractual requirements
  • Ability to lead, manage, and grow a diverse, dynamic team
