As the LA Lead Marketer, you will play a key role in supporting Brown and Caldwell's LA Growth Initiative-advancing client relationships and pursuits and contributing to strategy development to grow and achieve sales goals in the LA market. You will serve as the main point of contact for marketing activities in the LA office, partnering with the LA Growth Strategist to implement successful marketing processes and win new work. You will also support the Regional Marketing Director with marketing efforts across Southern California as needed.

The position is ideal for candidates with a passion for strategic business development, creative thinking, and pursuit development. We are looking for candidates who are self-driven, efficient with deadlines, and able to work effectively with diverse teams of engineers, marketers, and design staff to create persuasive and standout deliverables. The role will include tracking opportunities; creatingcompelling proposals, presentations, and marketing materials; and maintainingsystems and tools to promote overall efficiency and effectiveness.

Primary responsibilities include:

Strategic Client Development. Support BC's strategic planning efforts to advance key target clients and secure new business. Specific responsibilities include:

  • Support client service teams (CST) in the LA area, specifically, Metropolitan Water District of Southern California, LA Sanitation, LA Bureau of Engineering, and LA Department of Water and Power, and LA County Public Works. Additional CSTs to be added under the direction of the BU Sales Leader and Growth Strategist.
  • Facilitate and participate in client account analysis discussions, strategic client planning, and other growth initiatives.
  • Support the Los Angeles team with the LA Growth Strategy Business Plan to increase market share in the LA market. This includes having a strong partnership with the LA Growth Strategist and Strategy Team.
  • Research broader issues impacting our clients, market and area trends relating to our business, and competitors interfacing with core clients.
  • Support external civic engagement activities including conferences or other organization support, community events, and other communication-driven initiatives.
  • Write/edit staff resumes and project descriptions.
  • Participate in client meetings, brown bags, or other client facing activities, as needed.
  • Create brochures and brown bag materials, and coordinate with Corporate Communications to help implement a public relations campaign for the LA market.

Plan to Win (PTW). Lead the sales and marketing process to prioritize and position for multiple concurrent pursuits. Responsibilities include:

  • Lead key strategic LA opportunities. Guide and drive PTW activities to ensure positioning through proposal, interview, and debrief using the PTW approach.
    (Note: PTW training will be provided to Lead Marketer within first several weeks of onboarding)
  • Provide support to CST, Sales Leaders, and other team members as identified with the PTW process on a one-on-one basis by partnering on pursuits.
  • Provide input on Go/No Go decisions.
  • Manage and assist with strategy development, writing, formatting, editing, and review to ensure compelling messages and quality production.

Sales Planning and Reporting. Assess key metrics at office level, reporting trends and results against goals, as well as supporting business planning efforts.

Training. Assess staff sales and marketing expertise and develop and implement needed educational sessions on sales and marketing related topics.

Maintenance of Marketing Information. Create, update, and maintain all regularly used proposal information. Use systems and tools to share debrief information and best products. Support the development of best practices, tools, and marketing systems. Support updating sales and marketing information in WorkSmart including driving data integrity, specifically but not limited to opportunities stemming from the LA office.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree (Communications, English, Journalism, or Marketing preferred) with 5-7 years of experience in a related role.
  • Experience in engineering, environmental, architectural, and/or construction field is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills with emphasis on superior persuasive writing and presentation ability. Experience coaching others in interviews/presentations required.
  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently as well as in team environments, often under tight deadline situations.
  • Ability to identify key issues and patterns from partial/conflicting data.
  • Proficient use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Experience with InDesign highly preferred.

Salary Range:Theanticipatedstarting payrange for this position is based on the employee's primary work location and maybemore or lessdependingupon skills, experience,and education. These ranges may be modified in the future.

Location A: $32.50 - 44.70 / hour

Location B: $35.80 - 49.10 / hour

Location C: $39.00 - 53.60 / hour
