Job Description
Vierbicher has an opening in our Madison, WI office location for a Computer Aided Design (CAD) Technician. The CAD Technician is responsible for preparing drawings, topographical profiles, and related maps and specifications used in the planning and construction of projects. This position is also responsible for meeting with engineers and transforming blueprints using CAD software.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

 
  • Prepares CAD drawing for plans and prepares profiles and cross-sections indicating the relation of topographical contours and elevations of existing and proposed structures and other site improvements
  • Prepares detailed drawings of plans related to roads, culverts, fresh potable water supply, sewage disposal systems, traffic engineering and other various engineering design items
  • Measures and calculates quantities of bid items for use in estimating project costs
  • Organizes drawings that conform to Vierbicher CAD standards as required by the client and or company process
  • Conducts final model rending and delivers the final product to the project team
  • Periodically assist with site surveying, construction staking, and construction observation
  • Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
 
  • Ability to read and translate blueprints and technical drawings
  • Excellent attention to detail skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as independently
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
Education and Experience:
  • Three or more years’ experience in an engineering production environment is required
  • An Associate Degree in Computer Aided Drafting and Design or bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is preferred
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil 3D is required
