What you will be responsible for:

The Senior Vendor Management Manager is responsible for the strategic direction of the MFS Vendor Management Program. In this role, you will ensure the compliance of program requirements across all MFS business units is consistent and oversees the day-to-day management of the operational requirements. This position will identify, assess, and maintain accurate vendor records; assists vendor owners with the due diligence process; assesses vendor responses; compiles data for management reporting; and communicates and resolves issues related to the Program.

Principal Responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain a roadmap of strategic priorities for the MFS Vendor Management Program
  • Drive the Vendor Program requirements for business units throughout the enterprise, including but not limited to: initiating periodic due diligence in a timely manner; tracking the receipt of due diligence documentation; reviewing documentation to ensure requirements are met; and managing related systems.
  • Establish and maintain robust relationships with business owners, management and ERM team members to ensure requirements of the Vendor Program are understood and consistently applied across the enterprise.
  • Implement and monitor environmental, social, and corporate governance activities related to the Vendor Program. Ensure commitments and responsibilities to vendor and supply chain oversight activities are meet and continue to evolve.
  • Collaborate with the Business Continuity & IT Security Team to ensure that Business Continuity & Cyber Security requirements relating to vendors and the Program are met.
  • Partner with senior management, business units, external vendors, etc., and conduct meetings to facilitate resolution of questions and concerns.
  • Accurately maintain vendor records and vendor reporting to ensure compliance with all related recordkeeping policies and practices. Ensure others are maintaining their records related to the Vendor Program similarly.
  • Provide education to business owners to ensure compliance with the Vendor Program. Serve as point person on the Vendor Program. Pro-actively address communication and education issues with vendor owners as well as ERM team members on Vendor Program requirements, changes, initiatives, etc.
  • Assist in the review of vendors' third-party control reports (SOC) to ensure adequate scope of services and to identify any potential control gaps. Presents findings to management in a clear, concise manner, and recommend appropriate corrective actions.
  • Draft and validate of RFP and DDQ responses, regarding MFS ERM Programs and reporting.
  • Assist in the development of materials across the enterprise, for various MFS Boards and to MFS' parent company, Sunlife Financial Inc.
  • Support departmental initiatives for process improvements and enhancements to the ERM Programs.
  • Keep abreast of industry enterprise risk practices and provide recommendations for improvements to the ERM programs.
  • Performs additional related responsibilities as necessary.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related area or equivalent experience.
  • Must have at least ten to fifteen years' professional level experience, preferably in a vendor oversight, enterprise, or operational risk role.
  • Strong working knowledge of investment management operations and advisory functions is required as is expert knowledge of subject area within scope of position.
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, communication, customer-service, team-working and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be able to write effectively, and present research, analysis, and conclusions in a persuasive manner.
  • Proven ability to develop and foster strong interpersonal relationships and to maintain effective cross-functional teams throughout the organization. Demonstrated ability to work effectively with outside parties at all organizational levels.
  • Proven analytical skills. Make independent decisions, develop creative solutions to problems, advocate for same and manage the implementation through to acceptance.
  • Assume ownership for the delivery of projects while also operating successfully in a cross-functional, often international, team environment.
  • Must effectively drive solutions throughout the organization and present ideas in an effective, non-confrontational manner. Escalate issues and advocate for solutions.
  • Must be fully aware of best practices and evolving issues within scope of the position and able to relate same to MFS' operations and practices.
  • Strong presentation skills are required. Must be able to present comfortably
  • Must be self-motivated, thorough, detail-oriented, and persistent.
  • Must be able to function with a high degree of independence.
  • Demonstrated project management skills and the ability to analyze operational effectiveness are required.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and able to develop proficiency in MFS systems as required to perform the duties of this position.
  • Some periodic travel, domestic and international, may be required.
