Position: Financial Planner

Organizational Location: Houston, TX

Reports To: Wealth Planning Manager

Working Conditions: Normal, no adverse or hazardous conditions

Job Group Category: Exempt

Work Hours: 8am-5pm

Primary Purpose:

In this entry-level position, analysts will gain exposure in other areas of the firm and later take on wealth planning responsibilities with the expectation that their career will advance towards that of a wealth advisor with a book of business or as a senior member of the Wealth Planning or other L&W internal team.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Investment, Trading, and Operations teams with client onboarding and servicing
  • Assist the Wealth Planning team in development of financial plans and recommendations
  • Participate and be a valuable contributor in various team meetings across departments
  • Understand and support the firm's vision, mission, and strategy
  • Engage in teamwork and teambuilding and integrate into the culture of the firm

Job Specifications:

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university, in Financial Planning, Finance, Accounting, or other business-related degree
  • No prior professional work experience required
  • Industry related internship experience is a plus
  • Mastery of technical skills & expertise in software packages

  • Pursuit of CFP designation

  • Minimum of 6-24 months likely spent in this position

  • Proactive and strong work ethic

  • Ability to multi-task, prioritize and meet deadlines

  • Professional appearance and demeanor

  • Ability to work well in a team environment

  • Proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel

  • Strong writing skills

  • Experience with a CRM Database, Document Management software, eMoney or other Financial Planning software is a plus

  • Core knowledge of the wealth management industry, the fiduciary model, and wealth planning concepts

  • Knowledge of the firm's wealth planning and other core systems

  • Knowledge of technology solutions used by the firm
