The Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute at Henrico Doctors Hospital Forest Campus is looking for a Certified Therapeutic Medical Physicist (or board eligible within 1 year) to provide high quality, cutting edge and compassionate patient-centered care for our radiation oncology patient population. We are extremely team focused and interactive within the department. We are accredited by the American College of Radiology (ACR) and utilize the latest ARIA/Eclipse planning software. Our Cancer Center, built in 2017, currently boasts 2 Varian linacs (TrueBeam and Trilogy), a dedicated GE CT simulator, an HDR program, and very active SRS/SBRT programs. We treat hypo-fractionated stereotactic targets throughout the entire body and have grown rapidly to become the 3rd largest stereotactic volume across all HCA radiation oncology clinics. We were the first clinic in Virginia to utilize Varian's HyperArc modality to achieve Single-Isocenter Multiple-Metastasis Radiotherapy to treat up to 20-30 brain mets with a single plan.
The successful Physicist candidate will join 1 Physician, 1 Chief Physicist, 2 Travel Dosimetrists and 2 Remote PRN Dosimetrists, 6 Therapists, and 2 Nurses. Job Summary and Qualifications
SPECIFIC ELEMENTS AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
1. Provides oversight for aspects of the Medical Physics and Dosimetry programs along with other assigned duties.
2.Works closely with the Medical Director, Dosimetrists, Therapists, and Chief Radiation Oncology Physicist to ensure quality in the treatment planning and delivery of External Beam Radiotherapy.
3. Consults with Radiation Oncologists, Dosimetrists, and Therapists regarding treatment plans, Dosimetry calculations, design and fabrication of accessories, and clinical patient set-ups.
4.Consults on all External Beam special procedure cases (IMRT/IGRT, Stereotactic, HDR Brachytherapy, 4dCT, Respiratory Management, Surface Monitoring).
5.Is responsible for safe operations of all External Beam radiation equipment (linear accelerators, CT simulator) in cooperation with Chief Radiation Oncology Physicist.
6.Is responsible for periodic QA for therapy equipment.
7. Provides monthly spot checks, annual calibrations on radiation oncology equipment (linear accelerators, simulator) in cooperation with Chief Radiation Oncology Physicist as required by facility and NRC standards.
8.Supervision of therapy units, maintenance and is responsible for releasing the treatment machine
into clinical use after service has been performed in cooperation with Chief Radiation Oncology Physicist.
9.Consults with Dosimetrists/therapists, as well as service representatives, regarding equipment related problems and initiates corrective action in cooperation with Chief Radiation Oncology Physicist.
10. Assists in program development including the creation and maintenance of departmental policies/procedures in cooperation with Chief Radiation Oncology Physicist.
EXPERIENCE Three to five years of work experience as a Medical Physicist in Radiation Oncology.
EDUCATION Masters or doctorate degree in Medical Physics or Physics.
LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION: American Board of Radiology (Therapeutic Radiological Physics) OR Board eligible within 1 year.
