Job Description

The Alaka`ina Foundation Family of Companies (FOCs) is looking for qualified personnel who have skills/experience as Architectural and Civil Drafters; Electrical and Mechanical Drafters; Technical Writers; Computer Systems Analysts; Technical Manual Librarians; Executive Secretaries and Administrative Assistants; and Word Processors and Typists to provide Logistics Product Data Support to a Naval customer in various locations: Cherry Point, NC; North Island, CA; Jacksonville, FL; Patuxent River, MD; and Lakehurst, NJ.

POTENTIAL SUPPORT AREAS:

  • Technical data management;
  • Technical publishing;
  • Technical library/repository/Data Control Center (DCC);
  • Logistics information technology;
  • Independent quality assurance;
  • Digital & physical access, control, content, transaction/exchange, and protection;
  • Technical data content's suitability & completeness for intended use analysis and configuration audits (e.g. DODI5010.12M, ASME , ASME Y14.41 & Y14.42, S1000D), and
  • Reporting

POTENTIAL POSITIONS:

  • DRAFTERS : This broad occupation includes the following four detailed occupations:
    • Architectural and Civil Drafters
    • Electrical and Electronics Drafters
    • Mechanical Drafters
    • Drafters, All Other
  • TECHNICAL WRITERS : Writes technical materials, such as equipment manuals, appendices, or operating and maintenance instructions. May assist in layout work. Examples:
    • Specifications Writer
    • Documentation Writer
    • Medical Writer
  • COMPUTER SYSTEMS ANALYSTS : Reviews program plans for specific weapons systems, sub-systems, and equipment or information technology systems. Prepares technical data for inclusion in integrated logistics support plans. Prepares contract data requirements lists. Provides data management for specific weapons and/or equipment technical data during production, fleet introduction and operations.
  • TECHNICAL MANUAL LIBRARIANS: Acquires, processes, stores and retrieves technical documents in various formats. Prepares and processes (including technical writing and editing) technical data such as military specifications, technical manuals and technical directives using vocabulary and terminology associated with such documents.
  • EXECUTIVE SECRETARIES AND EXECUTIVE ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANTS : Provides high-level administrative support by conducting research, preparing statistical reports, handling information requests, and performing clerical functions such as preparing correspondence, receiving visitors, arranging conference calls, and scheduling meetings. May also train and supervise lower-level clerical staff. Example: Executive Assistant
  • WORD PROCESSORS AND TYPISTS : Uses word processor, computer or typewriter to type letters, reports, forms, or other material from rough draft, corrected copy, or voice recording. May perform other clerical duties as assigned. Examples:
    • Clerk Typist
    • Transcription Typist

REQUIRED DEGREE/EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION:

Below describes the Education/Experience requirement for each position. All degrees shall be obtained from an "accredited college or university" as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. This includes Associates, Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctorate degrees. When applying, please be sure you meet or exceed these requirements to be considered for the position of interest:

  • JUNIORS: up to three (3) years' experience and a BA/BS degree. Six (6) years' additional work experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree. Associate's Degree plus four (4) years' additional work experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree. Responsible for assisting more senior positions and/or performing functional duties under the oversight of more senior positions
  • SENIORS: over 10 years of experience and a MA/MS degree. Bachelor's Degree plus four (4) years additional work experience may be substituted for a Master's. Typically works on high-visibility or mission critical aspects of a given program and performs all functional duties independently. May oversee the efforts of less senior staff and/or be responsible for the efforts of all staff assigned to a specific job.
  • JOURNEYMAN: Must have three (3) to 10 years of experience and a BA/BS degree. Six (6) years' additional work experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree. Associate's Degree plus four (4) years' additional work experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's Degree. Typically performs all functional duties independently.

REQUIRED CITIZENSHIP AND CLEARANCE:

  • Candidate must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Desired: active Secret or Top-Secret clearance
