What you will be responsible for:The IT Unified Communication Engineer is a junior level technical resource in Communications and is responsible for the implementation and effective and efficient maintenance of related technologies. Coordinates voice communications requirements for the firm with business units and systems management as well as vendors and consultants. Analyzes communications needs and evaluates equipment and systems. Resolves problems applying learned expertise to interpret against policies and processes. In addition, this individual has practical knowledge of Information Technology at large, with an understanding of related disciplines and how they interoperate. The IT Unified Communication Engineer is an active participant and contributor in implementation, troubleshooting, and design initiatives.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES:- Serves as a subject matter resource in the field of Unified Communications, maintaining a broad understanding of the field and its related technologies.
- Provides technical support to ensure the ongoing efficient and reliable operations of related MFS information systems.
- Proactively develops and maintains knowledge of MFS information systems and their related components, and makes recommendations to improve the reliability, scalability, performance, or security of these systems as appropriate.
- Performs software installation and configurations on server and appliance hardware.
- Develops test plans and project plans as needed.
- Evaluates and coordinates End User Requirements and Specifications.
- Aids in the end to end software implementation and deployment lifecycle where applicable.
- Leverages technology to automate manual tasks, and seeks to improve efficiency wherever practicable and appropriate. Makes recommendations for process improvements.
- Aids in the development of, and enforces and maintains MFS Information Security controls, procedures, and standards.
- Works and manages projects of moderate complexity under minimal supervision. Allocates resources and budgets to meet project needs.
- Collaborates with other IT and business groups, and readily shares information to resolve problems.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a related technical field. Typically has a minimum of three to five years of related Information Technology experience in one or more of the disciplines listed below under "Technical Knowledge". Technical knowledge developed in at least three of the following disciplines:
- Communications configuration and administration.
- Voicemail design and implementation
- Application design and administration (, Call Center, Call Accounting)
- Telecommunications MAC (Moves, Adds and Changes), problem determination, and resolution.
- Internal voice Network Design.
- Audio/WEB conferencing.
- Routing Pattern Design.
- Working with and managing various carriers.
- Project Management (Small to Mid-size customer projects)
- Video Conferencing
- System Security protocols.
- Design of test plans and leading of Systems Testing efforts.
- Technical Documentation Design and Publication.
- Visio and PowerPoint documents.
- PC Technical Skills.
- Demonstrated proficiency in and knowledge of implementation and post-production support for at least one Unified Communications related technology.
- Demonstrated ability to interact, build relationships, and communicate well with team members and management; makes effective presentations.
- Strong analytical, problem solving, writing and organizational skills; ability to work effectively under pressure.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends.
- Able to be part of monthly On-call Rotation.
