The Role

The primary responsibility of the community engagement coordinator is to support engagement programs and initiatives designed for the Council community. These programs may include private roundtables, salon series, and town halls executed digitally and/or in-person. This role includes researching, tracking, and executing deliverables based on internal and external reporting and metrics essential to formulating strategies that will ultimately deliver measurable change in audience engagement, retention, and growth. Under the guidance of the Assistant Director, Engagement Programs, the Community Engagement Coordinator prioritizes the development of meaningful engagement opportunities and world-class international content that provides Council members and the public with deeper and more meaningful ways to engage with speakers, experts, and the Council community.

The Community Engagement Coordinator position is a hybrid role and requires frequent in-person attendance at our Downtown Chicago location based on work activities and peak seasons.


Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Support the day-to-day execution of content/programs/engagement products across all platforms (in person, Zoom, YouTube, LinkedIn, etc.) at a steady cadence of 2-4 a month.
  • Input all engagement products and programs into the scheduling system.
  • Partner with the Communications and Marketing Team to ensure engagement products are published on schedule and that all necessary descriptions, imagery, and product creative are in place and displayed correctly across all platforms and constituent communication channels.
  • Support aspects of the communications strategies on portfolio projects. Duties include developing content-focused social media posts, pull-quotes following the program, and other digitally-focused initiatives that extend the life, visibility, and reach of engagement content.
  • Assist with reporting on content performance, as it pertains to relevant audience growth, contact or donor acquisition, overall participant engagement, and retention.
  • Communicate project statuses to the Director, Community and Strategic Engagement, and team members.
  • Support the Assistant Director and Director in executing hybrid engagement products and incorporating engagement activities into audience experiences in the Council conference center.
  • Provide support at Council events approximately 3 - 4 times monthly (registration, ushering, etc.), requiring some evening and early morning hours.
  • Attend Public Programs & Engagement (PPE), Development, Marketing, and Editorial meetings and report on current and developing engagement products.
  • Participates collaboratively with the PPE team’s diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies. 
  • Occasionally assist at the front desk in meeting/greeting Council constituents and answering or routing incoming calls.
  • Perform other projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent of 1-3 years of experience working on multi-faceted events or other related experience
  • Should have some demonstrated interest in international affairs, current events, culture, and politics
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with CRM systems (Salesforce) a plus
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills; ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Great attention to detail, creative
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills; familiarity with new media and social networking platforms
  • Enthusiastic professional with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively and professionally in a fast-paced team environment
  • A problem-solver who shows initiative, works independently and as part of a team, meets deadlines, is flexible, and adapts easily to new situations
  • Should be committed to fostering an inclusive and welcoming environment across teams and with the public
  • Ability to work in-person events sometimes in Council Conference Center or other offsite venues
