Job Description

Snappy is on the lookout for a Director of Public Relations and Corporate Communications to be responsible for telling the Snappy story, and building our Brand with key journalists, analysts and our customers. You will report directly to the VP Marketing and work closely with the CEO, the marketing team and our PR agency to build deep relationships with influential press and help build our brand through impactful storytelling, campaigns and buzzworthy stunts that inspire people to spread smiles with Snappy. As the first dedicated PR professional in the company, you will be responsible for PR coverage, external & internal communications, policies and protocols, and ideating break-through ideas.

As Snappy expands from being a primarily Enterprise business, to one that will enable both SMBs and Consumers to send gifts, our PR and storytelling are becoming increasingly important. You will work closely with the B2B and B2C Marketing Directors to craft our PR strategy as an integrated part of our marketing plans and secure coverage with our target outlets including Business Insider, Forbes, Inc, Fortune, WSJ, CNBC, and target industry & consumer press. The ideal candidate will have strong existing journalist relationships and experience of late-stage VC startups, and experience of funding announcements / IPO comms.

You will:

  • Lead Consumer, B2B & Corporate PR for Snappy, through outstanding 'Why Snappy' storytelling
  • Be a leading spokesperson for Snappy, and coach a small group of Executive spokespeople within the organization
  • Deliver a clear PR strategy & plan to build the brand amongst customers & potential investors through cut-through content/marketing ideas that are effectively delivered
  • Prepare and deliver a launch plan for our new Consumer & SMB ahead of our Q4 peak
  • Manage our PR agency to secure coverage with our target outlets and build out a drumbeat of relevant and timely news, as well as take advantage of newsjacking opportunities
  • Manage all day-to-day PR activities including preparing press releases for product/feature launches, funding announcements, responses to inbound queries and business continuity planning, etc.
  • Manage internal comms for the business, partnering with HR and Marketing Teams to ensure that team members across our 4 locations are kept up-to-date on key company information & initiatives
  • Prepare the PR groundwork for international expansion and other key business initiatives as required

You are:

  • An experienced PR professional with at least 8-10 years experience ideally from a combination of agency-side / publication and in-house roles at a late-stage startup or early-stage listed business
  • Well-networked, with strong relationships with a variety of journalists that cover both B2B and B2C - ideally in the retail/e-commerce and tech space
  • An outstanding writer and editor, with the ability to craft authoritative and authentic content on behalf of the company and the CEO
  • A passionate, creative and collaborative leader who is looking to work at one of America's fastest-growing startups, and rapidly build the Snappy brand to drive growth and to prepare for a future IPO
  • A self-starter who is eager to set strategy & roll up their sleeves to get things done when needed
  • Results-oriented, with a strong focus on driving coverage that will support brand & business growth
  • An effective communicator who enjoys collaborating across functions and levels
  • Familiar with the challenges and opportunities associated with working in a growing startup environment
