Job Description
Description The Staff Biostatistician will work closely with faculty and staff to design, implement, and analyze research projects among pediatric populations. This individual will play a key role to support translational science investigators and residents through both brief consultations and on-going long-term collaborations. In doing so, s/he must have a firm understanding of clinical research, epidemiological methods, biostatistics, and be able, with guidance, to choose the appropriate methods and analyses to address the needs of research questions. The Staff Biostatistician will be expected to use a health research database system (REDCap), and subsequently provide technical and general data management support to researchers using this tool. In addition, this position will involve tasks to support certain administrative needs of the Division of Biostatistics and Study Methodology, including tracking and triaging of incoming requests for biostatistical support.
Qualifications

Minimum Education
Master's Degree Masters degree in Statistics, Biostatistics or Epidemiology. PhD in Statistics, or Biostatistics .

Minimum Work Experience
3 years At least 3 or more years work experience in research, analyzing data and participating in research design. Experience using SAS, STATA or R software. Prior experience working as part of a scientific team. Experience with a database management system relevant to medical research. .

Functional Accountabilities
Database Design Review

  • Review of the project design and information structure necessary to collect, manage, and prepare research data for the analysis necessary to address project aims.

Study Design Support

  • Assist investigators with the design of primarily pilot research projects including the development of data analysis plans and sample size and power estimates.

Data Analysis

  • Perform statistical analyses and produce graphs under the supervision of a faculty member from the Division of Biostatistics and Study Methodlogy.

  • Summarize results and write reports to be provided to investigators, as well as write applicable sections (methods, results) for papers.
  • Assist investigators with the implementation of analysis plans and the interpretation of results in preparation for publications of research findings.
