Job Description

Position Summary:
Responsible for the plumbing function of patient care units, ancillary care buildings, apartment dwellings, physician officebuildings and other off-site facilities. Performs skilled maintenance duties in and around the hospital including plumbing,welding, and mechanical equipment repair necessary to provide a healthy and safe environment for patients, visitors, andemployees .

Qualifications:
CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE REQUIREMENTS
Plumber Illinois License upon hire and Driver's License upon hire.

EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
1-2 Years Previous Experience

Essential Functions:

  • Performs major plumbing maintenance and repairs replacing piping, faucets, sinks, commodes, hot water heaters, ejector pumps, sump pumps, etc. Operates drain cleaning equipment to clear blocked drain or sewer lines and has knowledge of shutoff valve operation and locations for domestic water systems, heating water systems, water mains etc.
  • Using hand and power tools and precision measuring and testing equipment, repairs and maintains to manufacturers' specifications.
  • Inspects, installs, repairs and replaces pipes, fittings, valves and pumps to maintain hospital water and drainage systems.
  • Maintains water protection systems (includes pumps, risers, valves RPZ and controllers).
  • Prepares and implements appropriate preventive maintenance schedules for plumbing systems.
  • Monitors compliance with State and City codes, Environmental Protection Agency regulations and Metropolitan Sanitary District regulations.
  • Ability to read blue prints coordinates with general contractors working in the hospital on new construction to ensure the new installations meet proper specifications.
  • Is responsible for projects as assigned by Manager and monitors the work of other maintenance personnel assigned to the plumbing projects.
  • Prepares and submits to Construction Department proper documentation of modifications to existing systems.
