Job Description
Sypris Electronics has been providing Electronic Manufacturing Services (EMS) for Aerospace and Defense customers for decades. We are growing and seeking a strong Supplier Quality Engineer, responsible for implementing all aspects of the Quality requirements of our customers. The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for developing suppliers, assessing supplier quality, and ensuring supplier corrective action is performed as necessary. The SQE investigates, analyzes, and resolves supplier quality issues by conducting audits, analyzing defect trends and leading continuous improvement activities. 
  • Interface with suppliers regarding quality issues and assist in the failure analysis efforts for non-conformances, implementing appropriate corrective and preventive action
  • Support suppliers in the evaluation of existing processes, identification of opportunities for improvement, and development of solutions to optimize supplier performance utilizing preferred techniques for continuous improvement such as Lean, Six-Sigma, Poka-Yoke, and Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA)
  • Perform on-site supplier audits as needed, for root cause analysis and verification of corrective and preventive actions of supplier quality issues; audits may include, but not limited to the following: AS9100 Compliance Audits, APQP audits, Process and Product audits
  • Lead MRB activities to achieve optimal disposition of non-conforming material and ensure that adequate corrective actions are implemented
  • Completes and assists in AS9102 First Article Inspections to contracts and prints, ensuring conformance to specifications
  • Analyzes supplier performances to identify continuous improvement opportunities and participate in driving high product quality, continuous improvement, and increased customer satisfaction
  • Manages, analyzes, and publishes Supplier Quality Assurance Reports including process yields, defect/root cause analysis, and associated corrective actions
  • Designs and implements methods and procedures for testing and inspecting the quality level of Supplier products and material

Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Industrial Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum three years of Supplier Quality Engineering experience with electronic and mechanical components, PCBs, and assemblies in a high reliability electronic manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge and experience with AS9100/ISO9000 quality systems including performing full/partial FAI’s per AS9102
  • Technical knowledge of advanced PCBA manufacturing, quality assurance, quality control, and related assembly processes and requirements, including AS9100/9102; IPC-A-610; and J-STD-001
  • Strong analytical skills with proven experience utilizing a variety of Quality tools and systems such as: DOE, 8D, FMEA, SPC, RCCA, APQP, PPAP, controls plans, material control, process control, product evaluation, MSA, metrology, and automated measurement
  • Demonstrated ability to review and interpret drawings and specifications, utilizing inspection tools and proper understanding of GD&T
  • Experience assessing suppliers manufacturing and quality processes through supplier audits
  • Ability to travel when necessary
  • Possess, or able to obtain, a U.S. Government granted security clearance
