Mortenson is currently seeking an experienced Senior Project Manager - Network Technology/Technology Integrator to join our Portland team. The Senior Project Manager will lead the customer relationship, oversee the entire project scope while providing technical leadership of the project design and implementation teams for approximately $200M of technology work as a portion of an overall, long-term campus development. The technology work includes coordinating and integrating all elements of the control rooms, data center, and telecommunications system for the Vancouver Control Center.
What will you be doing?
Lead the customer relationship
- Lead design team to deliver the Customer's desired scope and performance
- Resolve concerns and troubleshoot solutions
- Provide frequent interactions and service to build long-term, positive relationships
- Manage expectations of a variety of user groups
Design oversight
- Lead the technology scope of work (Telecom, SCADA/Control Center and Data Center scopes) within the overall project/program of a campus upgrade and expansion
- Control Center includes AV systems, display walls and technical furniture consoles
- Translate the owner's vision into a constructible design solution within the overall project scope, budget, and schedule
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines and design managers to successfully deliver design projects
- Provide direction and input on preferred construction means, methods, and materials for incorporation into the construction documents
- Assist the estimating team in translating the design solution into technical and financial cost documentation
- Lead the design phase team in making critical project decisions at the right time to maintain the design schedule, and developing and accepting solutions to design issues that support the project scope, budget, schedule, and goals
Oversee financial performance
- Manage and deliver on project financial expectations
- Determine and allocate project estimate into financial system
- Determine cost codes, approve invoices, and make necessary budget management decisions
- Create monthly owner billings
Lead Team Members
- Provide job assignments and lead career development to its project team
- Provide training
- Review work performance; figure out rewards and/or performance management measures
Acquire services of consultants and trade partners
- Lead procurement of critical scopes of work in the project
- Make recommendations for trade partner selections with the design team, keeping within project schedule and budget parameters
- Select technology consultants for design-build projects
In the Field
- Use the appropriate level of forethought and planning in decision-making to assure project success
- Collaborates with other team members to ensure procurement of all required materials and equipment to support the project schedule
- Assists team with project scheduling
- Assist in pre-construction planning sessions and project site meetings
- Participate in Owner meetings
- Oversight and supervision of installation/implementation teams
- Establish and nurture a collaborative culture
How will you succeed?
- Minimum eight years of construction management or related experience
- Ability to assist with all responsibilities for complex projects, $150million +, required
- Experience in Network / SCADA engineering aspects on substation design and/or Control Centers, with specific experience with high voltage networking preferred
- Experience with data center design and construction including rack infrastructure, cabling, networking, power, compute, virtualization, storage, software, and security
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Understanding of discipline specific technical designs, engineering principles, business standards, practices, procedures, and product / program requirements
- Possess basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices
- Microsoft Office, project, and pertinent web application skills at an intermediate level
- Positive professional attitude, and strong customer service skills
- Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies
- Current driver's license
Education:
- Graduate of four-year college or university with Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE)
