Job Description

DLZ Corporation currently has an Industrial Hygienist / Environmental Scientist opening in Detroit, MI.

Duties & Responsibilities:

    Perform industrial hygiene field measurements (including post asbestos abatement air monitoring) and evaluations, prepare complete and accurate technical reports of survey finding, and provide recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Determine appropriate monitoring and sampling strategies
  • Evaluate and interpret monitoring and sampling results, make determinations, and develop corrective strategies
  • Advise/provide technical guidance regarding Industrial Hygiene issues and effectively address Industrial Hygiene standards while meeting business needs
  • May assume lead role in a segment of a project and/or coordinating work of specialty groups related to assigned project.
  • Perform work with general guidance and supervision or provide support to more experienced personnel.
  • Field work 50 - 90% of the time, may require overnight stays and work in other States with DLZ offices.
  • Prepare written technical reports and assist in proposal preparation.
  • Perform all work in a safe and responsible manner, in accordance with the Health and Safety Plan.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Job Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in environmental studies, geology, or related engineering field
  • 1 - 5 year's relevant experience in environmental consulting
  • Completion of NIOSH 582 sampling course
  • Minimum of 32 hours of asbestos training, which may include: asbestos worker (32 hours), contractor supervisor (40 hrs) and/or at least two of the following: Building Inspector, Project Designer or Management Planner.
  • Certifications for asbestos inspector (EPA and/or city/state) and Lead Based Paint Risk Assessor are a plus.
  • Experience with transaction due diligence projects including Phase I ESAs, Phase II Investigations, BEAs and Due Care Plans are a plus.
  • OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER Training and applicable 8 Hour refresher updates preferred.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Must be willing to travel for field work, have a valid driver's license, and ability to pass a driver's record check.
  • Ability to visit and safely traverse construction and project sites and complying with all applicable safety codes and requirements
