Stanley Consultants is seeking a motivated, talented, team-player with relevant transportation-related structural engineering experience (primarily bridges, culverts, and retaining walls) to join our successful team in Phoenix, AZ. This individual will bring their structural engineering and project involvement experience to our current teams and have the opportunity to be immersed in various projects throughout our operations network - primarily in the areas surrounding our Phoenix office. Our market objective is to deliver challenging projects - large and small - for state and county departments of transportation and local governments. Our transportation structures members plan, design, and manage the full progression of project development from Concept and Feasibility through Construction and Operation. We provide opportunities to be involved in all activities related to project scope, schedule, cost, quality, communications, resources, and risk elements to provide excellent service, responsiveness, and fiscal responsibility for all of our clients. Considering both mid and senior levels of experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

A representative list of areas of contribution and participation includes the following:

  • Be cognizant of the importance of company policies, regulations, and standards in performing assignments and tasks
  • Coordinate and cooperate with members of project team including members of other interrelated technical disciplines and potentially members from other offices, other engineering firms and contractors.
  • Maintain pride in the high-level quantity and quality of your work product
  • Bring your ideas and innovations to the table for team collaboration and discussion.
  • Bring your questions and concerns to the attention of your peers and leaders to get clear concurrence and direction.
  • Be familiar with federal, state, and local codes, regulations, and standards with which our designs must comply.
  • Subject all engineering design documents and files and construction documents and files to the required Quality Assurance/Quality Control processes
  • Participate in team meetings, and keep track of content, action items, dates/schedules, etc.
  • Have used common Quality Control processes to ensure safety and quality
  • Meet deadlines as prescribed by clients and project management staff members
  • Plan, organize, communicate, and coordinate project engagements.
  • Maintain good records.
  • Achieve project performance established for the engagement
  • Achieve project objectives including quality/scopes, budgets, and schedules.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor of Science (Master of Science preferred) in Civil Engineering with a major emphasis in structures
  • 10 years of relevant experience with at least 5 years of bridge design and structures experience
  • Experience working on significant bridge projects for a state department of transportation
  • Experience in analysis and design of transportation structures with common materials like reinforced concrete, prestressed concrete, structural steel, combinations thereof
  • Experience in analysis and design of deep and shallow foundations
  • PE registration required; Must possess the ability to obtain State PE within six months of hire
  • Experience working for a public transportation agency or private consulting engineering firm
  • Knowledge and experience with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Manual
  • Knowledge and experience with state level design and detailing guidelines/manuals
  • Working knowledge of structural analysis software such as the Bentley/(LEAP) Bridge Suite, STAAD, LPile, and other similar analysis software
  • Working knowledge of Bentley Microstation and OpenBridge Designer beneficial, but not required
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite products - Excel, Word, PowerPoint - and other common work document and A/V platforms - ADOBE, Bluebeam
