Job Description
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Responsible for providing coordination, planning, and supervision to assistant superintendents, contractors, and craft activities in a particular area of discipline. Develop and enhance customer relationships by providing excellent service.

KEY RESULT AREAS (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS)

Responsible for planning and implementation to ensure all materials, equipment, and inspections support the project schedule

  1. Review construction documents for completeness and constructability
  2. Review and understand contract documents
  3. Coordinate plans and specifications with design engineers, resolving discrepancies
  4. Participate in the development and management of a project schedule to include three and six week look ahead schedules
  5. Develop a site logistics plan
  6. Lead the utilization of Mortenson tools and equipment
  7. Collaborate with project partner superintendents

Responsible for coaching, supervision and development

  1. Conduct on-site project orientations
  2. Conduct effective pre-construction planning sessions and project site meetings
  3. Supervise project partners, craft foremen, and crews
  4. Interview, hire, transfer, and if needed dismiss craft team members
  5. Coach and mentor assistant superintendents, craft team members, and other project team members
  6. Ensure proper task coding of work hours on time cards
  7. Lead and track work progress and craft productivity
  8. Handle craft team member training, ensuring they are current prior to starting task
  9. Conduct career development discussions with foremen and craft team members

Effectively work and build relationships with those of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels

Lead team members by example, offer effective coaching and feedback, and effectively manage performance

Other duties as assigned, including:

  1. Provide high level management of safety, quality, risk, and compliance for the project and team members
  2. Recognize and mitigate unfavorable working conditions
  3. Seek opportunities to improve processes and procedures
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  1. Shown ability to fulfill all responsibilities for multiple, complex projects
  2. Detail orientation sufficient to organize and manage multiple project tasks
  3. Basic understanding of construction law and generally accepted business practices
  4. Microsoft Office skills at an intermediate level
  5. Shown positive and professional attitude, and strong customer service skills
  6. Ability to interpret and communicate Mortenson policies
  7. Active listening skills and effective communication including an openness to diverse input and feedback
  8. Ability to travel up to 100%

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
  1. Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction, Civil, or Architectural Engineering or Construction Management, or 10 years trade experience
  2. Minimum eight years construction experience with two of those years having supervisory experience
  3. Current driver's license
ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires the following with or without an accommodation; sitting, walking, standing, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, hearing, visual acuity, and utilization of a computer and office equipment. This person must be physically capable of reviewing a jobsite multiple times daily. The working environments consist of exposure to dirt, heat, noise, dust, and outdoor weather; as well as indoor and climate-controlled settings.
