What will you do?

The Laboratory Instrumentation Technician will report to the Director of Facilities Management and interact closely with the Associate Director of Facilities and Lab Operations. The Laboratory Instrumentation Technician is responsible for performing calibration, repair, installation, and troubleshooting of instruments, equipment, process control systems, and equipment used at the Blueprint Medicines sites. This position will also perform or schedule all PM's, manage all vendors, and routinely interact with all lab personnel to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction is maintained.

What will be your responsibilities?

  • Schedule and/or perform all laboratory instrument and equipment preventative maintenance tasks.
  • Troubleshoot and repair laboratory instrumentation and control system issues.
  • Perform advanced maintenance and repair activities on equipment and systems.
  • Manage all contractors and vendors associated with job function.
  • Communicate with all appropriate staff members and obtain authorization prior to performing any work.
  • Ensure work is appropriately communicated to system operators and key stakeholders.
  • Ensure work order documentation is completed accurately and completely.
  • Identify waste, workflow interrupters, and other opportunities for improvement, recommend solutions, and assisting with implementation.
  • Identify opportunities to learn new skills and actively participate in development that will improve overall team performance.

What basic qualifications do we require?

  • Military training equivalent of above is acceptable.
  • Experience with and knowledge of Metrology/calibration principles.
  • Advanced troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) are required. Ability to present own work to peers and management.
  • Technical writing skills required.
  • Must have a customer service mindset.
  • Must be able use technical expertise and judgement to investigate issues using a structured problem-solving approach to determine true root cause and path forward for complex problems.
  • Demonstrated ability and eagerness to learn new equipment/systems.
  • Familiarity with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to navigate computerized data and information management systems.
  • Ability to work collaboratively.
  • Creative Problem Solving.
  • Impeccable Integrity and accountability.

What additional qualifications are we seeking?

  • Ability to work independently
  • Knowledge of CMMS Systems
  • Keen knowledge of hand tools, meters, diagnostic equipment
  • Requires the ability to lift 50 lbs. using proper lifting techniques
  • May require occasional off-hour emergency response
  • Willingness to attend instrument manufacturer's trainings.
