Job Description & Key Responsibilities

We are looking for a full-time or part-time intern to support our APAC research team with macroeconomic, business, and political research and analysis for China. The role involves hands-on coaching from our talented research team and exposure to our research methodologies as well as client-facing work supporting the world's leading multinationals in building their APAC business strategies. Interns will take on substantial responsibilities and gain exposure to multinationals across a wide range of industries, as well as geographies. This position will report to our Managing Director of APAC who is based in Singapore, but will have regular dialogue with our global economics team based in DC.

This internship is for approximately 3 months, starting immediately, with potential to extend.


Day-to-day responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Monitoring political, macroeconomic, and policy research on greater China
  • Gathering and analyzing macroeconomic data for China to support our monthly forecasting process
  • Prepare presentation materials for senior executive audiences
  • Writing analysis on key trends across China and their implications for multinationals and their strategies
  • Researching in-depth specific issues or topics to provide a clear and impactful view on their implications for multinational corporates and their APAC strategies

Qualifications & Experience

  • Full professional fluency in English (i.e., able to write, speak, and present fluently)
  • Professional fluency in Mandarin required. This includes the ability to read and understand articles and official documents to be used in research.
  • At minimum basic familiarity with key macroeconomic concepts
  • Demonstrated experience researching macroeconomic, political, or business topics, ideally with a focus on the Asia Pacific region
  • Knowledge/experience in China, particularly in the context of economic models, socio-political trends, and/or business landscape
  • Experience in managing multiple projects for various stakeholders and working independently on tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to cover a variety of topics and issues, including unfamiliar ones
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially PowerPoint and Excel)
