Job Description

Albemarle is for an Equipment Inspector to join our Bayport site. The candidate should be in certified in one or more of the following:

  • Pressure Vessel Inspector (API - 510) Piping Inspector (API - 570) Above Ground Storage Tank Inspector (API - 653) CWI

  • Level II Certifications in a minimum of 4 of the following:

  • (BT) Bubble Leak Testing

  • (MT) Magnetic Particle Testing

  • (PT) Liquid Penetrant Testing

  • (RT) Radiographic Film Interpretation

  • (UT) Ultrasonic Testing

  • (VT) Visual Testing

Essential Duties:

  • Inspect/accept required welds performed by Albemarle nested contractors.

  • Witness required hydrostatic tests for acceptance.

  • Provide off-site equipment inspection/acceptance services for all Albemarle sites that have work being performed at Houston area fabrication/repair shops.

  • Oversee Albemarle nested contractor welder program.

  • Provide communication to the plant for inspections that are coming due (SAP & Excel).

  • Provide inspector services on pressure vessels as required by plant requirements.

  • Assist in developing repair methods for field site repairs and alterations as required by inspection findings and equipment failures.

  • Assist Engineering with the rerating of pressure vessels using accepted API methods.

  • Provide inspector services to required (per API-570 and plant procedures) plant piping systems.

  • Provide inspection services on above ground storage tanks (as required by API 653).

  • Complete reports as required and maintain the equipment files, to include both the conventional and electronic databased files.

  • Handle all recommendations as required (SAP & reporting) and interface with the field personnel on their planning and execution.

  • Verify Code Materials are proper by accepted methods such as heat numbers.

  • Verify the Material Test Report and/or Certificate of Compliance per the Material Specifications and any other applicable requirements.

  • Maintain all test equipment within calibration requirements.

  • Review/accept heat treatment procedures provided by contracting firms employed for use on Albemarle equipment.

  • Review of site inspection lists to ensure all equipment is covered and in compliance with applicable industry requirements.

  • Management of inspection related contractors.

  • Ownership and development of the site QA/QC program.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Proficiency in SAP and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • High School Degree or GED Required.
