The Cox Automotive SEO Product Team is seeking a summer intern to join the team focusing on the Kelley Blue Book and Autotrader content strategy. You will get the opportunity to learn the ins and outs of SEO and end the summer with a project that will be excellent for your portfolio.

What you will be doing this summer:

  • Learn to perform keyword research and use those skills to grow a targeted keyword portfolio.
  • Conduct competitor analysis to identify gaps in our content coverage and areas of opportunity.
  • Evaluate cannibalizing URLs and determine appropriate redirect or repurpose strategy for older content.
  • Audit internal linking on an ongoing basis to improve the search visibility for our highest value pages.
  • Map out new and existing verticals to ensure optimal search visibility.
  • Get to know and learn to communicate with our amazing editorial team.
  • Monitor performance of site rankings with a focus on increasing and defending our rankings.

Qualifications:

Qualified intern candidates with be a rising junior or senior , with a preference given to graduate students pursuing a degree in Marketing, Internet Marketing, Website Development, Digital Media) a related field

It would be awesome if you had:

  • Good academic standing with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.
  • Previous experience working directly with SEO campaign management
  • Previous experience with analytics and common reporting platforms/tools
  • Search Engine Marketing, email marketing, social media experience (e.g., Facebook, blogging, reputation management, etc.)

Technical Aptitude:
Strong knowledge of web-based applications and common Internet protocols and conventions (web browsers, email, HTTP, FTP). Basic knowledge of web display languages (i.e., HTML, CSS) and Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Word, Excel) is also required. Knowledge of web development techniques and technologies as well as databases is preferred but not required (e.g., XML, JavaScript, Velocity, MySQL).

Communication Skills:

Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate articulately both verbally and in writing, ability to manage difficult situations and difficult people, strong copywriting and proofreading skills, highly customer focused (internal and external customers), engaging and effective subject matter expert and presenter.

Organizational Skills:

Strong time management skills with the ability to multi-task proactively and in response to issues as they arise, proven methods to manage self and others (both clients and colleagues) adept at problem-solving, able to follow procedures, flexible to creatively develop solutions and work-arounds as needed.

Team-Building:

Prioritize needs of self, others and organization, contribute to an enjoyable and supportive work atmosphere while maintaining a positive attitude and be able to work independently while providing internal customer/stakeholder service and exercising sound judgment.
