Job Description

This position works within the Tax & Accounting division Global Marketing & Communications group to help plan and execute public relations strategies and publicity campaigns to drive ongoing, effective media coverage for the Tax & Accounting division of Wolters Kluwer. This role will work closely with the Corporate Affairs & Communications Director to develop and orchestrate media and public relations activities and thought leadership initiatives in North America, including the development of media alerts and press releases, and help support global external communications programs at the division and enterprise level.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work with Corporate Affairs & Communications Director and internal stakeholders to plan, draft, and edit media alerts and press releases; help develop stories for media pitches, placements, etc.

  • Assist in the development of executive bios, pitch letters, talking points, and company statements

  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify and calendarize key people, product, and process award opportunities

  • Monitor the competitive/industry environment and provide weekly media coverage reports for key competitors, industry issues & trends, etc.

  • Prepare weekly and quarterly media coverage reports and work with Corporate Affairs & Communications Director to set, track and report on key external communications KPIs

  • Assist in managing the division contributions to the Wolters Kluwer corporate-level website to ensure effective positioning and compelling, current content that supports corporate strategy

  • Help develop messaging and content to drive thought leadership by reaching key external stakeholders, including tax beat reporters, customers, and influencers

  • Identify data to support storytelling efforts by building trust and strong relations with internal teams to mine for good stories; leverage data and stories to build awareness, brand, and audience

  • Support the management of the external communications process across a wide range of vehicles (social, print, broadcast, digital, conferences, events, etc.)

  • Work with Corporate Affairs & Communications Director to develop strategic public relations activities and programs that help drive business objectives, support product goals, and position Wolters Kluwer as a market leader in North America and globally

  • Assist with other communications initiatives as needed

Job Qualifications

Education: BA or BS

Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in journalism, communications, public relations; experience working in a global software company or the tax industry a plus

  • Experience working in a public relations agency or managing an agency relationship

  • Self-directed and motivated, with a strong work ethic and high integrity

  • Demonstrated experience in using social media to influence and engage

  • Demonstrated ability to implement strategic communications plans

  • Thorough knowledge of media operations

  • Extensive knowledge of social media and emerging communication platforms

  • Familiarity with social and traditional media listening tools (Cision, Meltwater, Talkwalker, etc.)

  • Experience preparing regular communications metrics & performance reports
