Data Science
Team overview: The Data Science team analyzes a variety of data from
many sources to provide meaningful insights, to understand our customers better,
and to improve our products and services. The team applies scientific method and
advanced modeling/machine learning techniques to test a variety of hypotheses
about relationships between data elements from many sources. Once uncovered,
these data gems are used to create an improved customer experience with insightful
and predictive communications.
During their time at Windstream a Data Science intern will have an opportunity
use state-of-the-art statistical and machine learning modeling and leverage tools
such as Rapid Miner, snowflake, Python/R, and other latest tools to train and test
machine learning models, create actionable customer facing insights, and more

.
Preferred skills: Statistical Modeling, Descriptive Statistics, Probability and
Inferential Statistics, Machine Learning and Deep learning skills, Proficiency in
Python or R, and working knowledge of SQL.

Robotics and AI
Team overview: The Robotics team deploys chat bots (virtual assistants) and
Natural Language Processing (NLP) to automate support conversations for customer
facing applications. Chat bots use Artificial Intelligence to carry on humanlike
conversations with customers and employees.
During their time at Windstream a Robotics intern will have an opportunity use
AI and NLP techniques and tools as well as complex application integration with
REST, microservices, and other API frameworks. Opportunities also exist for datacentric
computer scientists to work hands-on with large volumes of conversation
data to tune and optimize the chatbots using advanced modeling and machine
learning.
Preferred skills: Software development and process analysis. This intern will
use TypeScript, NodeJS, Python, JSON/XML, REST APIs, PostgreSQL.


Digital Content Creator
Position Overview: The Digital Content Creator will play a key role in creating
and delivering engaging and inspiring content to highlight the accomplishments
of the Big Data, Data Science, and Artificial Intelligence teams. They will provide
communication support by drafting and distributing creative, timely, and
accurate internal communications and materials for employee consumption. Job
responsibilities also include delivering multimedia content such as video, graphic
design, and visual presentations. The candidate will be responsible for writing,
shooting, and editing video messages. They will frequently consult and strategize
about the most effective way to convey messages.


Preferred skills: Strong writing background; design and image/video editing
skills; technology oriented and experience with CMS; someone who can take
complex concepts and demystify them for a general and diverse audience.
