Job Description
POSITION SUMMARY
The Production Manager will directly manage production and maintenance teams on a daily basis to ensure safe & efficient plant operations. Additionally the Production Manager will be directly responsible for safety, quality, and regulatory requirements as they relate to production functions. The Production Manager will also be responsible for measuring operational efficiency and monitoring staffing needs to ensure the plant operates safely and efficiently. This position reports directly to the Hub Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Provide leadership in safety and quality under Matheson's corporate guidelines and directives
Responsible for the training and management of personnel for the assigned area.
Serve as front line supervisor for plant production team
Provide response and reporting to the Hub Manager regarding customer issues related to production.
Interface with Logistics Manager to ensure production activities are aligned with distribution and customer needs.
Demonstrate and maintain a high level of customer focus, and customer commitment and ensure plant personnel demonstrate and maintain the same.
Responsible for validating and maintaining inventory levels consistent with recent demand based on plant capability.
Develop and lead plant projects, control their schedule, and manage expenses to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
Responsible for managing continuous improvement plans in all areas of responsibilities.
Responsible for managing and maintaining all production assets within assigned area.
Work directly with other Matheson locations to ensure the efficient use of corporate assets
Work directly with corporate management for the procurement of assets
Maintain clear thinking and professional composure in high pressure situations
Perform other projects and duties as assigned.

HOURS OF WORK: Typical hours for this position are going to match the requirements of the customer base Monday through Friday and possibly some Saturday hours if applicable.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Directly supervises the local site employees in the Production Department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies, and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, employees, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, vendors, employees, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry such as fractions, percentages, ratios, volume and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Ability to work in a Matrix environment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Bachelor degree or equivalent experience with a minimum of 5 years specific management experience in electronic and specialty gas or related field with a working knowledge of Six Sigma and lean manufacturing practices.
Ability to proficiently display computer software skills with programs such Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, VISIO and Outlook.
Manufacturing of industrial, medical, and specialty gases including pure gases, gas blends, hydrocarbon blends or similar manufacturing fields.
Filling, testing, distribution of electronic and specialty gases, including pure gases, gas blends, hydrocarbon blends and reactive gas blends.
Experience with principles and operation of mechanical equipment such as pumps and compressors.
Experience with reading and understanding flow diagrams and P&ID's
Experience in industrial gas filling or production preferred
Specialty and medical gas to the line industrial production experience.
