Job Description

SRI's Integrated Systems & Solutions division designs and develops leading-edge R&D technology that support demanding market needs. State of the art technology portfolio includes real-time video processing, video / sensor exploitation solutions, audio/voice processing, associated software development, and (RF) communications.

The Co-op will work as a member of a team supporting the concept definition, requirements development, design, and execution for proof of concept and prototype development. Some efforts will involve integration of existing solutions to a more comprehensive solution, while other will develop solutions based on existing COTS technology. Projects lean towards processing at the edge solutions. SWaP (Size, Weight, and Power) are critical elements which need to be optimized. Projects are intended to be start (idea) to finish (working packaged prototype in hand) and all the necessary steps including WIKI documentation, tradeoff studies, code management, and SharePoint data repositories. Projects may include multiple disciplines - Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineer, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering.Technology areas include circuit design (digital and analog), AI/ML neural networks, RF communications, Image processing, HMI interfaces, data processing, packaging (using SRI 3D printers), and PC / MCU software development.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prototyping, use of lab test equipment, run test procedures, and debugging design/implementation Design, develop, analyze, document and support testing of products, systems or subsystems
  • Regular reporting of progress and status (Team meetings and updating Wiki)
  • Review specifications, requirements, and develops designs to best support them
Although individuals may have specific focus area, cross pollination and participation outside focus domain is expected as part of supporting the team. This position will be able to work on-site or remotely, the team is flexible with work location.

Qualifications

  • Due to government requirements candidate must be a US Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Experience with MS Word, PowerPoint, Visio, WIKI's
Experience desired/a plus based on engineering background:
  • Systems Engineering: System concepts, and willingness to embrace unfamiliar engineering disciplines
  • Electrical Engineering: Analog and/or digital design circuit design experience and modeling
  • Mechanical Engineering: Familiarity 3D design and printing tools
  • Software Engineering: Experience using Windows and/or Linux along with development environments
  • Computer Engineering: Image processing (OpenCV) and AI experience (TensorFlow etc.)
