Job Description

DLZ Corporation has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Bridge Engineer to lead the Bridge Design group in Michigan.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Lead projects focused on bridge and roadway structures for the MI Department of Transportation and other transportation infrastructure agencies.
  • Perform complex structural engineering, construction, and design assignments, requiring application of innovative methods or progressive techniques and advanced professional knowledge,
  • A leading role in major segments of design projects where complex, multi-faceted, and coordinated structural engineering work is required; directing assigned personnel, meeting cost and time schedules and producing quality results are primary objectives.
  • Develop structural analysis and design calculations using governing codes and standards, engineering formulas and experience,
  • Direct and manage Engineers and Technicians reporting to this position.
  • Maintain department budget guidelines and profitability. Prepare department workload projections and manage financial performance.
  • Prepare scope of work, cost proposals and contracts for potential work.
  • Ensure contractual commitments are met and work is being performed according to the client's instructions.
  • Ensure consistency and high quality in all work produced by the Department.
  • Improve business development within the firm's business development program.
  • Initiate and maintain contacts with key professionals and officials of other organizations and companies.
  • Possess aptitude to act as a positive representative of the company and its core values.
  • Perform all work in a safe and responsible manner, in accordance with the Health and Safety Plan.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering with Structural Engineering concentration required, Master's degree preferred
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PE) in the state of MI required
  • 15 years of progressively responsible experience in structural engineering with focus on bridges
  • NHI Bridge Inspection Certification is a plus
  • Working knowledge and application of Michigan DOT design standards required
  • Working experience with Bentley/Leap Bridge suite of Bridge design program
  • MicroStation / OpenRoads experience a plus
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Software
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and practice proactive time-management.
  • Ability to visit and safely traverse construction and project sites, complying with all applicable safety codes and requirements.
