Description

Job Responsibilities:

1. Prepares system installation drawings from engineered documentation under direct supervision of the Designer for construction or permit. Refers more complex issues to higher level colleague.

2. Prepares system as-built drawings from onsite drawing mark-ups under direct supervision of the Designer. Refers more complex issues to higher level colleague.

3. Assembles drawing package sets and data sheets for submittal or permit; works on routine to moderately complex drawing package sets and data sheets.

4. Assembles operations and maintenance manuals, system documentations and a warranty letter for our system owner.

5. Reviews own drawings for quality and accuracy. Incorporates feedback from Designer and CAD team for continuous improvement to drawing sets.

6. Exports, compiles, occasionally prints, distributes shop drawings/close-out documents to assigned Designer & Project Manager as necessary.

7. Assists fellow colleagues with drafting support as requested or required. May provide support to Electronic Security projects and other CAD teams.

8. Works closely with the Designer and/or Project Manager with any project drawing modifications. Maintains master record set drawings and documentation of facilities.

9. May assist with operating plotter; paper and toner replacement.

10. Attends reoccurring scheduling meetings, manages workload and provides updates to project stakeholders on a regular basis.

11. May conduct job site walks, review system during pre-design, installation, and project close-out. Create ample documentation for records.

12. Performs other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

Job Skills Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge/expertise in AutoCAD
  • Basic knowledge in general AutoCAD commands such as layers, xrefs, dimensioning and 3D skills
  • Developing skills in reading and understanding architectural and electrical layouts and diagrams
  • Developing knowledge of electrical/electronic theory and components
  • Developing exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure; ability to maintain awareness of, and seek to meet the needs and wants of the customer without being prompted
  • Developing technical skills and experience related to Fire Alarm & Life Safety systems. Passionate learner.
  • Great verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
  • Basic organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Basic computer skills including exposure to MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel)

Education Requirements:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

Experience Requirements:

  • Previous drafting experience preferred
  • Experience with sheet sets, dynamic blocks, AutoCAD automations a plus
  • Experience of one or more of the following industries preferred: Fire Alarm & Life Safety, Electronic Security, and/or Building Automation

Certifications & Licenses:

  • Computer-Aided Drafting
  • Associate of Applied Science Degree (A.A.S) preferred
