Nixon Peabody has an immediate opening for a Business Development Specialist to join our Marketing team. This Business Development Specialist will work closely with business development team members to provide marketing and business development support to the Project Finance, Infrastructure, and Real Estate Department. This includes, but is not limited to: research related to pitches and proposals; creation and compilation of client-facing sales materials and marketing collateral; assistance with planning, management and implementation of practice group and specialty team-related events and business development initiatives; support related to the firm CRM program; maintenance and posting of website and firm intranet content. Specialists may also be called upon to support other firm wide initiatives.

CORE JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Department lead with planning and management of practice-specific events including webinars and virtual events. Leads efforts with post-event ROI and analytics.
  • Works with Social Media manager to promote programs and assist with event follow up.
  • Assists with compilation of mailing lists for marketing projects utilizing the firms CRM program. This includes alerts, practice-specific seminars, events, and other promotional mailings.
  • Takes lead on maintaining attorney biographies and ensuring that they are future focused and current.
  • Assists with collecting and assisting with experience summaries.

SECONDARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Works with Business Development team in preparing pitches and proposals. Department lead on multi-practice proposals, including meeting with attorneys to review their needs; compiling of research materials gathered by librarians; ushering the project through necessary reviews by the attorneys and Manager; and preparation and distribution of the finished product.
  • Works with Business Development team in maintaining the proposal system, experience database and other systems that are warehouses of information required for pitches and proposals.
  • Assists with attorney directory submissions for Chambers, Legal 500, and additional legal directories and nominations.
  • Occasional travel to other offices and/or events required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, including tasks specific to the designated practice group/department.
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Marketing, English or a communications field.
  • 3+ years of experience in professional services marketing or communications fields. Strong preference given to candidates with law firm experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, written and verbal. Strong ability to proofread.
  • Proficient with PPT, Excel and Word.
  • Must be detail oriented, proactive, intellectually curious, self-directed and able to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
