Description of primary duties and responsibilities: |
Primary Purpose of the Organizational Unit: The mission of Information Technology and Telecommunication Services is to explore, implement, maintain and support the uses of technology to effectively and efficiently achieve the University's academic and administrative objectives as stated in University's strategic plan.
Primary Purpose of the Position: The primary purpose of this position is to interact and coordinate with the university, campus and department administrators; technology directors and staff; university and external technology specialists; and individual members of the University and internet communities to establish, grow, and maintain effective information security programs at Fayetteville State University. |
Description of Work Continued: |
Duties and Responsibilities Lead the development, growth and maintenance of a comprehensive and flexible set of Information Security policies, standards and procedures aligned with ISO27002 that are relevant and easily adopted by FSU. Works closely with the ITS staff and campus constituents to integrate security awareness, education, training and best practices into all aspects of information technology services at FSU. Assist in the development and implementation of both IT Audit preparation and response plans including any special tasks or projects requested by management or relevant governance group. Provide oversight and coordinate risk management assessments for security, and IT services, and software compliance. Monitors university related IT operations to identify potential risk and risk mitigation. Monitors trends and offers suggestions for IT related projects to enhance the overall security posture of FSU. Offers recommendations and carries out actions to ensure ongoing process improvement. Provides oversight, performance management, and development for information technology security personnel in the division of information technology. Serves as the IT Security Representative to the UNC General Administration IT Security Council. Collaborates with peers and colleagues across the UNC system to coordinate and grow security related initiatives on all campuses. The IT Security Officer examines the IT environment for system and information security exposures and provides high level and practical expertise/consulting. |
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements: | Master's degree plus 2-4 years of experience, or a bachelor's degree plus 3-5 years of experience. Or equivalent combination of education and experience. At least 1 year of supervisory experience. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information and Computer Technology, Information Security, or related area from an appropriately accredited institution, and four or more years of experience with cyber security activities such as SIEM monitoring and reporting, vulnerability management, incident response, monitoring and analysis of security related activities within an IPS/IDS solution, system administration, or related duties. |
