Southern Maryland Electric Cooperative, Inc. (SMECO), headquartered in Hughesville, Maryland, is a rapidly growing transmission and distribution cooperative with about 500 employees that serves over 162,000 consumers just south of Washington, D.C. SMECO has a peak load of almost 1000 MW, assets in excess of $980 million, with over 400 miles of transmission lines serving 71 substations.
Primary Functions:
Starting salary ranges between $129,600-$181,200. SMECO offers and excellent benefits program including a 401k 6% dollar for dollar match and additional 3% non-elective company contribution.

Education - Four-year college degree in electrical engineering; some power system electives preferred. Professional Engineer Certificate also required.
Minimum 15 years progressive work experience in electric utility systems design,
protection and control, with knowledge of relative power systems applications.
