We have an opportunity for a senior director of public relations who will be responsible for driving Alight's strategic public relations objectives by defining, executing and leading PR efforts across Alight's business. Working closely with Alight's CMO, VP of Product Marketing, and VP of Communications and other stakeholders, this individual will lead the execution of product oriented external communications including proactive media relations, product and solution launches, thought leadership, and external executive visibility.

The senior director of public relations provides strategic communication advice and recommendation to members of Alight's executive leadership team and other senior leaders. This includes strategy development, key message development, creation of written communications, and media and message training and preparation.The senior director of public relations will report to the VP of Communications.

As the senior director of public relations, typical areas of focus will include:

  • Developing and driving Alight's overall PR and media relations strategy across Alight's-health, wealth, and global payroll solutions in support Alight's broader brand and corporate strategy
  • Driving Alight's executive visibility strategy
  • Working proactively with business leaders and subject matter experts to develop and implement a strategic thought leadership agenda, and advise them on effective media interactions
  • Building and maintaining relationships with influential reporters and achieving strategic placements with leading outlets across broadcast, print and online media
  • Staying in tune with major industry/competitor news
  • Partnering with digital marketing to align social media content and messaging with the broader PR strategy
  • Partnering with communications and marketing to ensure communications are consistent and coordinated across key constituents
  • Supervising and collaborating with agency partners to drive measurable PR results

Qualifications
  • 10+ years public relations experience in a corporate or agency setting with an emphasis on top tier media relations
  • Experience with SaaS and/or HR technology companies a plus
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to influence others
  • Proven track record of achieving strong media results across top tier and trade media (i.e., HR/benefits, healthcare, financial, and technology)
  • Ability and willingness to perform both strategic and tactical elements of the role
  • Creative thinker and risk taker, with a finger on the pulse of the news cycle and major media trends that create new opportunities for Alight to generate headlines and increase share of voice
  • Exceptional writing and editing skills
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to execute programs with speed, accuracy and efficiency
  • An uncompromising commitment to quality and detail
  • Self-motivated, self-starter with a strong desire to work entrepreneurially
  • Team oriented with a strong sense of commitment to colleagues and internal clients
  • Experience working with external PR agencies
  • Flexibility to travel occasionally and work outside of standard office hours as needed

Education:

Bachelor's degree in a related discipline preferred (e.g., Communication, Journalism, English, Business) but not required

Pay Transparency Statement: Alight takes into consideration a candidate's experience, education, certification/credentials, market data, internal equity, and geography when determining an offer for a successful employment candidate, and Alight does so on an individualized, non-discriminatory basis. Therefore, an offer may fall anywhere between the estimated minimum base salary for this role of $102,400.00/year (for full time employees) and the estimated maximum base salary for this role of $253,700.00/year (for full time employees). In addition to a base salary, this position may be eligible for a bonus and/or other incentive plans.
