Job/Internship Description

Daikin Applied's HVAC Test Technician Internships are based in the Plymouth, MN Technology Center. Students will be assigned projects in the Tech Center to support daily development activities for Applied Terminal and Air Handling products. Projects will cover a broad spectrum of technical areas. This position will have the opportunity to be part of growing team within a world-class testing facility at our Plymouth, MN Test Center. This role is key technical resource for the development of commercial HVAC equipment in the Daikin Technology Center Laboratory.

Technician interns will have an opportunity to:

  • Develop an understanding of industry standards covering method of testing and compliance (AHRI and ASHRAE)
  • Gain experience with lab grade instrumentation and measurement application techniques
  • Exposure to engineering processes and development tools
  • Build, operate, and test advanced next generation equipment prototypes
  • Utilize basic electrical wiring skills to setup, modify, and troubleshoot test units
  • Apply fundamental HVAC skills (brazing, reading schematics, troubleshooting, refrigerant handling, etc.).

Basic Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in Heating, Ventilation, Air Conditioning, and Refrigeration (A.A.S) program
  • Successfully completed at least one semester of coursework toward AAS degree
  • Ability to work a minimum of 35 hours per week for the duration of the summer and 20 hours during the school year
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and Word)
