The Human Resources team is searching for ambitious personnel to join their everyday mission to discover, hire, and retain great talent. These personnel are the conduit for positive employee relations, performance management, and focal point for benefits/compensation. You would be instrumental in achieving Smithfield's goal to become the #1 consumer packaged goods company in the world!

The Talent Acquisition Specialist is responsible for partnering with HR Managers, Business Unit Managers or Directors to develop, implement, and follow through on innovative solutions to source, identify and hire the best qualified candidates from diverse candidate pools, both from within and outside the organization.

Though there is a preference for this role in our Smithfield, Virginia office, we are open to this position being fully remote work.

Core Responsibilities
    Partners with Hiring Managers and HR Managers on all job postings; builds relationships with Hiring Managers to determine hiring needs and to drive the hiring process
  • Uses an applicant tracking program (ATS) to manage the selection and onboarding process; maintains accurate documentation to track recruitment efforts, applicant flow, interviews, hires, and other selection and onboarding activities
  • Manages end-to-end recruitment and selection: opens job requisitions in ATS and posts on hiring boards, evaluates candidates' resumes based on job descriptions, schedules phone screens, conducts phone screens to evaluate candidates' ability to meet company expectations, schedules interviews for Hiring Managers, makes job offer to candidate, and follows through up to onboarding
  • Supports diversity initiatives and objectives by attracting diverse talent by building and maintaining relationships with various organizations
  • Ensures compliance with all federal and state laws/regulations pertaining to selection and onboarding
  • Develops and maintains contacts with employment agencies, career centers, education institutions, and other sources of applicants
  • Assists HR in the answering of employment questions; is a policy expert
  • Other HR duties and responsibilities as assigned

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.   • Bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited four-year college or university and 2+ years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State and corporate employment regulations and policies (EEO, Wage and Hour, etc.).
  • Demonstrates a generalist level understanding of compensation, benefits, employee and labor relations.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; the ability to research, develop and present ideas before large groups.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships both within and outside the organization.
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge/experience of Microsoft software, Word, Excel and Power Point.
  • Ability to work well with others in fast paced, dynamic environment.
  • Ability to be respectful, approachable and team oriented while building strong working relationships and a positive work environment.
  • Bilingual in Spanish, preferred.
  • Periodic travel is required.
