COST ENGINEER

IMPACT and OPPORTUNITY

We are searching for a collaborative and driven Cost Engineer with detailed product and production knowledge to join our team. This position will support and drive a deeper consideration of the design-to-cost approach in the calculation and a more efficient calculation.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide product cost calculations in close partnership with Product Development and Industrial Engineering including plausibility checks
  • Manage the valuation of technical changes driven by customer requests
  • Responsible for identification and implementation of cost savings potentials during the RFQ-Phase
  • Support Sales, Product Development and Industrial Engineering with cost calculation and analyis of new products and technologies
  • Provide detailed explanations of cost structure of product to customer based on drawings / CAD data from Engineering
  • Manage and coordinate model inputs internally between sales and project managers and related departments (such as purchasing and development)
  • Optimization and updating of the globally used internal calculation system
  • Responsible prepartion of customer Cost-Break-Downs based on internal and external guidelines
  • Initiate and participate in process improvement initiatives.

QUALIFICATIONS

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Engineering or closely related field.
  • 2 years costing experience
  • Advanced Excel abilities (Pivot tables, VLookup, etc.)
  • Effective communication skills across a broad spectrum of departments
  • Self-motivated & self-starting

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years of position related experience
  • Automotive industry experience
  • Engineering background
